Kim Kardashian lands on the cover of Time’s 100 Most Influential Companies issue

Kim Kardashian is on the cover of yet another magazine, but this one is a little different.

The 42-year-old reality star, who has been enjoying New York for a while, is on the cover of the Time 100 Most Influential Companies problem.

Her company SKIMS is on a long list that includes Taco Bell, Disney and TikTok where she has eight million followers in addition to the 350 million who already follow her on Instagram.

The magazine took advantage of Kim’s curves to draw attention to the issue by styling her in a tight black Skims-inspired bodysuit and black gloves with a leather maxi skirt with cutouts and buckles down the right leg.

Her hair was styled straight and she wore natural-looking makeup with a rose gold lip.

Impostor syndrome: Kim Kardashian, 42, admitted she suffers from impostor syndrome despite her success with Skims, “but I think that’s part of what keeps me going,” she told Time magazine

The multimillionaire is humble when she talks about the success of her shapewear business that started in 2019 and was valued at $3.2 billion by 2022.

“I feel like, okay, I did it,” she said.

The Kardashians star, who has signed some lucrative branding deals in the past, explained that the idea of creating a shapewear brand came from her own needs.

“It started with simply finding shapewear with a skin tone that would match my color,” she explained. “I used to take my shapewear and dye it with tea bags and coffee in the bathtub.”

She also cut off a leg of her undergarment to allow her to wear a high-slit dress or skirt, and has since incorporated that idea into her offerings in 10 shades ranging from sand to onyx.

The company, of which Kim is the largest shareholder, has now expanded to include loungewear, briefs and bras and will launch its newest line, sportswear, on Thursday.

She also revealed that Skims will release a line of men’s loungewear in the fall and create male-friendly shapewear in the future.

The trendsetter admitted that she is the shape model for Skims and usually spends hours each week trying on the product.

“I always like to see it on myself,” she said. “I can absolutely tell when I’m missing a few drops.”

The designer estimates that she has tried on around 7,000 garments since the start of the company.

What may surprise her fans and critics is that the woman with an international following admitted, “I still have imposter syndrome or whatever, but I think that’s part of what keeps me going.”

She turned that drive into founding two other companies, SKKN, as a skin care line, and SKKY, an investment company.

At the age of 42, she acknowledged that there is a “time stamp” on her career as an influencer.

“I understand that in my 50s I may not want to pose in my underwear,” she said, adding, “We will do everything we can to look as young as possible.” We don’t go out if we don’t try.’

But she’s creating a legacy for her four kids, North, 10, Saint, seven, Chicago, five, and Psalm, four, though she hasn’t quite figured out how to get into the business just yet.

She and her eldest daughter North, 10, have started their own TikTok account, Kim and North, which has 16.2 million followers.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians alum shares all of her children with ex-husband Kanye West, 46.

Kim revealed that it was North who introduced her to Ice Spice’s music, which inspired a Skims campaign featuring the 23-year-old hip-hop artist.

“Every day the kid gets to switch who they want to listen to and plug in their music on their way to school and one day North was listening to Ice Spice, and I didn’t know who that was at the time,” she said.

“I was like, ‘This is the moment where I feel really old, where my daughter is now teaching me what’s cool.'”

The collaboration got Kim in hot water with her fans and her ex, after North uploaded a video of her dressing up as Ice Spice and rapping along to some of the artist’s saltier lyrics.

The busy mom said she was out of town at the time and said it was okay to share the video without seeing it first.

“As soon as I saw the words, I was like, ‘Oh no, we’re taking this down.’

And then I saw on the internet, [people saying] “Kanye was right,” and maybe he was,” she admitted. “But she loves making slime videos and doing her little hair tutorials, and I’ll fight for her to be creative.”

“It’s always a compromise,” she said of co-parenting with the trouble rapper.

“No one will always agree and as a parent you just have to do your best to protect your children, but also let them be creative.”
