Kim Kardashian hinted at her family’s connection to the late OJ Simpson in a preview for next week’s edition of The Kardashians.
On the Hulu reality series — which was filmed last fall ahead of Simpson’s death at age 76 last month — the 43-year-old star explained in a confessional segment how a jury duty commitment got in the way of her birthday plans.
“It’s my birthday week and I’ve been called to jury duty,” said the Los Angeles native, whose birthday is Oct. 21 with fellow celebs Doja Cat and Amber Rose.
Kim referenced her late father Robert Kardashian’s work on the late OJ Simpson’s “Dream Team” of attorneys, saying, “I feel like there’s some kind of OJ connection that could get me out of jury duty.”

It is the second reference to Simpson – who was acquitted in 1994 of the double murder of his ex-wife Nicole Simpson and friend Ronald Goldman – that Kim makes this month.
She also alluded to Simpson during her May 5 set at The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady in Los Angeles, which came after Simpson’s April 10 death from cancer.
Addressing Brady, she said, “Honestly, it’s hard for me to watch people roast you, but I think enough of my family members have helped defend former football players.”
Kim was seen at the Van Nuys Courthouse in Van Nuys, California, on several days around her birthday last fall, serving jury duty in a murder case, and was ultimately dismissed.
The reality star took part in a session in which she and other potential jury members were asked questions by attorneys for the prosecution and defense, but no direct questions were asked, sources said. TMZ at the time.
Kim mingled with other jurors and was seen eating snacks in the hallway during breaks in the proceedings, and had members of her Hulu crew filmed as she performed her civic duty.
It wasn’t clear if the judges’ service ultimately led Kim to change her birthday plans, but she did enjoy a meal with family and friends at Funke restaurant in Beverly Hills, California, last October 20.
In addition to family members like her mother Kris Jenner and sisters Khloé Kardashian, Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner, Kim was joined by celeb friends like Kimora Lee Simmons, Hailey Bieber and Ivanka Trump.
Robert Kardashian served as one of OJ Simpson’s attorneys and the main intermediary between the accused murderer and the rest of his legal team, but their friendship waned in the years following Simpson’s 1995 criminal acquittal and Robert’s death in 2003 .

Simpson’s family members confirmed his death via social media on April 11, saying in a message on Twitter/X: “On April 10, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.”
Kim chatted about Simpson with David Letterman on his Netflix series My Next Guest Needs No Introduction in October 2020, explaining the complicated impact the double murder had on her family.
Kris was good friends with Nicole, Kim said, while Robert was close to OJ and a member of his legal team.
Kim said she remembers her mother and OJ “getting into it” on the phone when he called her from jail once.
