Kim Cattrall emotionally discusses grieving for her brother Chris

Kim Cattrall has opened up about finding “bare bones” after the suicide of her beloved younger brother Chris in 2018.

Chris was found dead by police aged 55 after the Sex and the City actress, now 66, took to social media to ask for help finding him when he went missing.

It took less than a day for authorities to find Cattrall on his property in Blackfalds, Alberta.

Cattrall reflected on her grief journey in an emotional interview with The Sunday times, saying, ‘This should not have happened. It was sudden and unexpected.

“You remember where you were, what happened, what was said. It’s all so accessible, all the time, a weight that’s always with you and never leaves.

‘A weight that never leaves you’: Kim Cattrall has opened up about finding ‘bald bones’ after the suicide of her beloved younger brother Chris in 2018

“Those were just some special days. Everything in you is on edge because it can be saved. And in my family that was one of the roles you take on.’

Cattrall said losing her brother taught her to set boundaries, and said she doesn’t want to worry about people who don’t want to better themselves, adding “they have to want to change.”

She explained that a friend of hers, who is a “big supporter of AA,” told her that alcohol is a “mistress that brings you alone and kills you” – adding, “It was surprising to see that with such a bald hearing clarity. ‘

The star said she was glad her father wasn’t alive at the time of her brother’s death because she “didn’t think he could have taken it.”

Shortly after Chris’ death, the longtime artist took to Twitter to update her followers on the grim news.

“It is with great sadness that myself and my family announce the unexpected passing of our son and brother, Chris Cattrall,” she tweeted.

“At this time, we ask for privacy. We want to thank you all on social media for your outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.”

Cattrall and former SATC co-star Sarah Jessica Parker’s feud exploded in 2018, when the former berated the latter for speaking about Kim’s brother Christopher in a TV interview.

“Your constant reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now. Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona,” Cattrall said in the post

Cattrall will make a shocking return as Sex And The City’s Samantha Jones for the second season of spin-off And Just Like That – despite her explosive feud with star Parker.

According to Variety, Cattrall will return for just one “cliffhanger” scene, which she shot in New York City on March 22, without seeing or speaking to stars SJP, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis. The scene was also shot without AJLT showrunner Michael Patrick King.

In the scene, Samantha, who has moved to London, will have a phone conversation with Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw.

The New York Post also revealed that Cattrall’s cameo was so secretive that her name didn’t even appear on the call sheet for the day, leaving people stunned by her presence.

An insider said show staffers’absolutely shocked, very intrigued about how they’re going to write this – and very excited. She said she would never! She said she’d never come back!’

It was alleged that her scene was being filmed in a city car in a parking garage near Silvercup Studios in Queens.

Even SJP has claimed she doesn’t want Kim back – when Variety asked in a 2022 interview if she’d be ‘OK’ if Cattrall could come back to the show if a ‘miracle happened’, after their very public feud exploded in 2018.

Parker responded, “I don’t think I would because I think there’s just too much public history of feelings on her part that she’s shared.”

Addition: “I have not participated in or read any articles, although people tend to let me know.”

“We didn’t go to Kim for this, you know,” Parker said. “After we didn’t make the movie and the studio couldn’t fulfill what she wanted to do, we need to hear her and listen to her and what was important to her.”
