According to the official synopsis, Killers of the Flower Moon – co-written and directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Martin Scorsese – is set in Osage County, Oklahoma, in the 1920s.
The story follows a series of murders and sheds light on the systemic discrimination against members of the Osage Native American tribe after oil is found on their reservation.
Scorsese and his co-writer, Eric Roth, focused the story on Ernest Burkhart (DiCaprio), a World War I veteran who falls in love with Mollie Brown (Gladstone), a member of a wealthy Osage family.
Killers of the Flower Moon also marks DiCaprio’s return to the big screen since he starred in Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
In 2021, he also starred in the 2021 Netflix movie Don’t Look Up.
The film is DiCaprio’s seventh collaboration with the director and stars him opposite Scorsese’s former muse, De Niro.
In the film, De Niro plays irredeemable villain William Hale – an American rancher, who ordered the murder of his cousin’s wife’s entire family to steal their oil rights.
