‘Killer’ yoga teacher Kaitlin Armstrong FAKED leg injury to try and escape jail during medical appointment after being charged with killing boyfriend’s cyclist ex, court hears
Suspected killer yoga teacher Kaitlin Armstrong planned an escape from prison using a fake leg injury after she was charged with killing her boyfriend’s biker ex-lover.
The former yoga teacher, 35, was allegedly busy planning her big escape from prison and requested off-site medical appointments for her ‘leg injury’ as a ploy to get her out.
After her failed escape, an affidavit claimed the ex-yogi regularly exercised despite the ‘injury’ during her time in the Travis County Correctional Complex. Her intense workout was documented on security footage.
Armstrong was also wearing thermal pants under her county-issued black and white striped uniform pants – which she removed during the foot chase to reveal her identity as an inmate, the affidavit indicated.
After the escape, a search of Armstrong’s cell found a metal pin and dental floss. The metal pin “broke off and provided a solid thin piece of metal that could likely be used to manipulate a handcuff to be removed,” the affidavit said.
Armstrong is accused of fatally shooting cyclist Moriah Wilson, who was dating Armstrong’s boyfriend Colin Strickland, in Austin, Texas, in May 2022.
After the murder, Armstrong fled to Costa Rica where she had plastic surgery – probably a nose job – before she was captured 43 days later.

Authorities said she got a nose job and dyed her hair brown after fleeing the US. She used her sister’s passport to leave the country and used various aliases while on the run
The affidavit summarized: ‘Due to recent activity of vigorous exercise, and complaints of injury to secure an off-site medical appointment, and restrictions on leg restraints, Affiant has reason to believe and believes that inmate Armstrong planned to escape from custody.’
The escape came well after Armstrong was offered a plea deal that would have shaved decades off her sentence – which she rejected.
Armstrong now faces even more time in prison for her attempt to escape from correctional officers on Wednesday.
Cell phone footage captured the moment the ex-yoga teacher broke free from two corrections officers after visiting a doctor’s office in Austin as they walked her back to the car Wednesday.

Police said she drove around a nearby neighborhood for about 10 minutes before she was caught.
This is not Armstrong’s first attempt to run away from the charges she faces for Moriah Wilson’s murder.
The accused killer fled Texas after she was initially questioned and traveled to Costa Rica.

Armstrong’s boyfriend Colin Strickland, 35, has since admitted that he did, in fact, have an affair with Wilson, saying the two had dinner together the night she was killed.

Armstrong, who allegedly followed Wilson, pulled up in her SUV near the apartment where Strickland dropped off his dinner date.
Armstrong reportedly tracked down Wilson using the app for cyclists and runners, Strava.
