Kieran Tierney has snubbed his current team-mates and said Scott Brown is the best player he’s ever played with.

The left-back and Brown played together for a number of years at Celtic when Brown was an experienced veteran and Tierney was just emerging into senior football.

Clearly the experienced Brown had a great influence over a youthful Tierney, with the Arsenal man praising his former team-mate and skipper for his leadership qualities as well as the overall quality he displayed on the field of play.

He told ToppersGolf: Best player I’ve played with – Scott Brown. One hundred per cent. As a whole football player.

‘A leader, legend, in the changing room – on and off the park. Most influential player by far.’

Tierney left Celtic for Arsenal in 2019 for a fee worth £25m. Despite having been in the capital for three years, it is clear he has not forgotten the impact Brown had on his career.

The two players lined up together for the Hoops 145 times, winning four league crowns together.

Meanwhile, despite having played in a number of big Premier League and FA Cup fixtures for Arsenal, the boyhood Celtic fan Tierney declared the Old Firm the biggest game he’s played in so far during his career.

‘The biggest game probably, like pressure wise, would be Celtic-Rangers,’ he declared.

‘That derby is mental, especially when you’re from that area. Like you know how much it means, it just means so much,’ he said.

Tierney was then asked if he missed lining up for Celtic, to which he responded: ‘The games like that you’re going to miss. I still get excited watching it though.’
