Kicker Brandon McManus has been released by the Washington Commanders in the wake of two women accusing him of sexual assault during a transatlantic flight.

Two women who worked as flight attendants on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ flight to London on September 28 allege in a lawsuit filed in civil court that McManus, 32, tried to kiss one of them and rub against both of them while tried that. to carry out their work responsibilities.

One of the women further alleged that McManus “grinned and walked away” after she confronted him about his actions and that the Jaguars had failed to provide a safe environment for the staff on the flight.

They are now seeking more than $1 million in damages, according to court documents.

The Jaguars won both of their games in England, first against the Atlanta Falcons at Wembley and then against the Buffalo Bills at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, on October 1 and 8 respectively.

A statement Sunday from attorney Brett R. Gallaway said McManus wanted to thank the commanders for the opportunity to be part of the organization and continued to criticize the lawsuit.

“We reiterate that the allegations against Brandon are and remain absolutely false, contradicted by indisputable evidence and the prosecutors’ own prior inconsistent statements and omissions,” Gallaway said.

“While we are disappointed with the team’s decision to release Brandon before he had the opportunity to defend himself against these fabricated claims, we will aggressively defend and clear Brandon’s name and reputation through the legal process.

“We intend to dismiss these claims, fully exonerate him and look forward to seeing him back on the field where he belongs.”

The women are represented by attorney Tony Buzbee, who has also worked for many of Deshaun Watson’s sexual misconduct accusers.

Buzbee said on Instagram that his team tried “unsuccessfully” to settle the case with McManus out of court before resorting to trial.

McManus signed a one-year, $3.6 million deal with Washington in March after playing last season, his 10th in the NFL, with Jacksonville.

The commanders and the Jaguars each said earlier this week that they were investigating the situation.
