Khamzat Chimaev’s chilling reaction to Aussie comedian ahead of Rob Whittaker showdown at UFC 308

  • Fighters were interviewed ahead of the fight in Abu Dhabi
  • The Russian objected to the Australian’s line of questioning
  • Threatened the Aussies saying it would be a ‘bad morning for you’

Khamzat Chimaev isn’t the kind of guy you want to get on the bad side of, but one Australian comedian may have bitten off more than he can chew after earning the wrath of the Russian UFC champion.

Chimaev will face Australian Rob Whittaker in Abu Dhabi at UFC 308, with the Australian hoping to leapfrog Sean Strickland in a world title fight with an upset win.

It won’t be an easy task, with Chimaev set to make a formidable debut in the UFC in 2020 after making the transition to mixed martial arts and maintaining a perfect UFC record since.

Whittaker is a former UFC middleweight champion, known for his victory over Yoel Romero at UFC 213, making him the first Australian to win a UFC championship.

Since then, he has scored significant victories against top contenders such as Jared Cannonier, Darren Till and Kelvin Gastelum and is hoping for another title shot against Chimaev in Australia if he can beat the Russian in Abu Dhabi.

While the event will be held live on Saturday evening local time, Aussies will have to get up early on Sunday to catch Whittaker.

Russia’s Khamzat Chimaev got excited after an Australian comedian suggested Rob Whittaker would beat him

Nick Cody woke up the wild beast by angering Chimaev, but had Aussie Rob Whittaker in trouble

Australian comedian and radio host Nick Cody, who co-hosts Fox FM’s Fifi, Fev & Nick show, interviewed both fighters ahead of the fight and it started off seemingly innocently.

‘As always, you have the whole country behind you. But Saturday night it’s 5am Sunday morning here in Sydney and Melbourne. Then the main card starts,” Cody asked Whittaker.

“What would you recommend to people: go to bed early and set an alarm, or just push through, send and have a big celebration if Whittaker gets the W?”

Chimaev remains undefeated in the UFC and will be a huge mountain for Whittaker to overcome

However, Whittaker was not given a chance to respond as Chimaev took offense to the series of questions.

“It’s going to be a bad morning for you guys… Fuck off, man!” the Russian furious.

Cody replied, “I didn’t ask you.”

Whittaker couldn’t stop laughing and said, “Pack yourself up early.” Wake up. It’s going to be a blast. I won’t keep you waiting.’

Whittaker hopes to not only beat Chimaev, but also be a title contender against the same opponent in Australia

The last time the Australian won a UFC title was in 2017, but he is not giving up hope

Still excited, Chimaev added: “Fans of Abu Dhabi, my Muslim brothers, take this s*** down. Throw him out.

‘Go back to Australia. I’m coming to your house, man.’

Whittaker is willing to play the full five rounds or 25 minutes, to which Khimaev said, “I don’t think we’ll need 25.

‘I’m here to kill someone. I’m here to fight, man.

“Maybe he’ll come here and jump around like a kangaroo, I don’t know.

‘I’m here for a fight.

“And first I’ll try to finish the man.”
