KFC has controversially removed a popular drink from the Australian menu.

Popular food blogger Russ Eats revealed that the orange fizzy drink was “gone,” saying, “Why the hell would you want zero sugar?” It’s absolutely beyond me.”

Aussies are furious when KFC scraps popular soft drink Sunkist out of the blue and replaces it with a no-sugar alternative on the Australian menu

In late 2022, McDonald’s Australia dropped Sprite as its no-sugar alternative, causing similar backlash and confusion over why it couldn’t be an addition to the menu rather than an outright swap.

KFC’s decision to move to Sunkist Zero Sugar was revealed on Wednesday to a chorus of dismay from the Australian public.

Apple juice had also been removed from the drinks menu and sparkling water had been added instead.

“There are rumors that they want to replace all drinks with sugar-free versions. But if you’re at KFC, why wouldn’t you want sugar?’ Russ eat said.

“It is absolutely beyond me. Unless you have diabetes, then I understand.’

KFC confirmed the controversial move, saying they are always looking for ways to revamp their menu.

Aussies were far from enthusiastic about the change and took to social media to vent their frustration.

“Aghh why can’t they just have both Sunkist and Sunkist with no sugar,” one person wrote.

“Zero sugar to, of course, balance the order,” said another.

“The Sunkist news is a DAGGER at heart,” a third commented.

“What a shame,” said another.

“Good to have sugar free options but let’s not go overboard,” a fourth added.
