KFC Australia brings back hugely popular crowd favourite to the menu – but one state will miss out

A KFC fan favorite is back – and turning up the heat – after a three-year hiatus and near-constant customer demand.

Hot Rods, which first appeared on the Colonels menu in 2007 and were last served in 2021, returned to Australian restaurants (outside South Australia) on Tuesday.

The ‘spicy bites on a stick’ are ‘simple but delicious’ and feature the chain’s famous chicken and a crispy-golden coating with a little spicy kick.

There have been demands on Instagram for some time that the colonel brings the skewers back Down Under.

“Bring these juicy babes back,” one fan demanded.

‘It’s time. Bring it back,” said another under an old photo of the snack.

“Bring back the hot rods,” a third responded to an unrelated post from the fast food giant.

The calls have been answered – albeit for a limited time.
