Another win for the Kansas City Chiefs came with a concerning footnote on Saturday when defensive tackle Chris Jones injured his calf late in the game against the Houston Texans.
The 30-year-old was listed as questionable to return with a handful of minutes remaining in the match and was spotted with a strap around his right calf on Saturday afternoon.
After the game, head coach Andy Reid said: “Chris Jones has strained his calf.”
When asked about the Christmas Day game against the Steelers, Reid wasn’t sure Jones would be ready.
“Yeah, it’s probably too early to tell right now,” Reid said. “We’ll just see how he does here, but I can’t tell you.
“I mean, he’s going to get the MRIs and stuff, so I don’t have any information.”
The Chiefs have secured their spot in the playoffs for weeks, but are now looking to secure the No. 1 seed and home field advantage for the playoffs.
After Wednesday’s game in Pittsburgh, the Chiefs wrap up the regular season on the road to the Denver Broncos.
