The Brooklyn Nets made ‘the best decision’ by not trading star player Kevin Durant, claims Shannon Sharpe.

The Fox Sports analyst has become one of the most popular names in sports since transitioning to TV following a Hall of Fame worthy career in the NFL.

Sharpe who co-hosts ‘Undisputed’ on FS1 along with Skip Bayless had some strong comments about Durant choosing to stay in Brooklyn.

Sharpe heaped praise on both sides saying that in the end they both came to the right call by electing for Durant to stay in Brooklyn.

‘When emotions are high sometimes logic is low. After they got swept in the first round, it left a sour taste in KD’s mouth,’ Sharpe told FOX Sports Tuesday.

‘The Nets did a great job of not panicking. Cooler heads prevailed, this was the best decision.’

Former MVP Durant requested a trade away from the Nets earlier this summer. After there seemed to be no progress Durant met with Nets team governor Joe Tsai and doubled down on his trade request.

‘Steve Nash and I, together with [owners] Joe Tsai and Clara Wu Tsai, met with Kevin Durant and [his agent] Rich Kleiman in Los Angeles yesterday,’ read the statement from Nets general manager Sean Marks. ‘We have agreed to move forward with our partnership. We are focusing on basketball, with one collective goal in mind: build a lasting franchise to bring a championship to Brooklyn.’

Durant reportedly attempted to issue the team an ultimatum to either trade him or fire head coach Steve Nash and general manager Sean Marks.

Tsai would go on to publicly support his staff members, while also saying they would make the best decisions for the team.

‘I think the Brooklyn Nets did a very good thing. They didn’t overreact and say “OK you want out, well we’re going to get your a** out of here”… because a lot of the times that’s what happens instead of sitting down, let cooler heads prevail, let’s talk this thing through because it’s still the best situation for us,’ Sharpe added.

‘Maybe they assured KD we’re going to do better job at holding guys accountable.

‘Whatever the case may be, I like it. I like that KD is staying in Brooklyn. I do believe Kevin Durant is great enough to win a title.

‘And what Kevin Durant doesn’t know or maybe he does but will never admit it he wins one title in Brooklyn it will mean more than both of those he won in Golden State because it would be a situation he helped establish.

‘This was the best decision.’

Sharpe would end his passionate speech by reiterating what many NBA experts have said, which is that it would have been near impossible to have received equal value in return for a player of Durant’s talent.

‘This is the best decision… You are never going to get equal value for Kevin Durant, unless you swap Giannis [Antetokounmpo] or Nikola Jokic, or a player, someone  equal value. But if your trying to say oh we’ll give you these three players and two first rounders, THAT AINT KEVIN DURANT.’ he said.

‘You’re trying to swap me spare parts for a drop top Bugatti. Nah I’m good.’
