Kevin Costner’s ex claims Yellowstone star told their children about their divorce in ZOOM call

Kevin Costner told his three children about his divorce from their mother during a 10-minute Zoom call, his estranged wife Christine Baumgartner alleges in new court documents.

The Bodyguard actor, 68, has been caught in a legal battle with Christine, 49, since she filed for divorce in May after 18 years of marriage. Court documents now show that he informed their children of their breakup during a Zoom call, despite Christine’s hopes that they would break the news together.

The couple shares three children together, Cayden 16, Hayes, 14, and Grace 13. Costner also has four adult children from previous relationships.

According to PeopleChristine claimed in documents that Kevin was on location in Las Vegas for a show when he told their children about the breakup: “After a 24-year relationship, Kevin told our three kids from his Las Vegas hotel room that we were getting divorced more than a Zoom conversation of 10 minutes without me being there.

“I’m still confused by his motivation for doing this through a very short zoom session, especially since he planned to be home five days later.

“He could have easily come from Las Vegas to have the conversation in person.”

Christine had wanted to tell their kids about the divorce with Kevin.

“The welfare of the children has always been my top priority and I was afraid they would find out about the divorce before Kevin and I could tell them. It was important to me that we tell the kids in person and together,” she said.

She reportedly shared her fear that their kids would hear about the split through an “outside source” and even gave Costner articles about “the importance of talking to the kids as a united front.”

Christine thought she and Kevin could break the news together, but she claims he ended up informing them alone without her.

“He ignored my suggestion to do what I felt was right based on research and my relationship with the kids. Instead, he insisted he had the right to tell them we were getting divorced ‘first’ and to tell them privately ‘without me present.’

A source close to Kevin told People that the actor’s ex filed for divorce in May while he was filming on location, explaining that he “FaceTimes with the kids all the time when he’s away for work.”

It comes after People reported that Christine was seeking $248,000 a month to raise their three children.

According to documents obtained by the publication, Christine claims that the money requested to care for their three children is “less than the amount required to maintain the children in their usual lifestyle.”

According to the court documents, she would also like Kevin to pay for their children’s private school tuition, extracurricular activities, sports and health care costs.

Her filing led to Kevin’s recent income records being released.

People said documents showed he earned more than $19 million in 2022 and his family’s expenses, which include chefs and trips to the Caribbean, Hawaii and Aspen, cost $6,645,285.

Kevin’s net income was reported to be $7,595,520 after taxes.

The Field of Dreams star previously argued in court documents obtained by Page six he did not want his financial records to be made public for fear that fraudsters would do him “irreparable harm”.

Kevin has accused Christine of spending $95,000 of his money on him “without notice” to lawyers and a forensic accountant during the proceedings.

The couple – who have a prenuptial agreement – are said to have agreed on custody of the children, which Christine has reportedly described as “jointly.”

She is also not seeking spousal support.
