Kevin Clifton breaks down in tears as he makes a heartbreaking discovery about his past on an upcoming episode of Who Do You Think You Are?
The 40-year-old Strictly Come Dancing professional discovered he was related to a woman named Matooski, who was a victim of horrific racism.
Kevin, who recently welcomed a baby girl named Minnie with his partner Stacey Dooley, explained that he felt “defensive and protective” of the woman, even though she lived years earlier.
In the series, Kevin admitted that he cried when he heard about Matooski, who was from the First Nations Of Canada, a term used to identify Indigenous Canadian people who are not Inuit or Métis.
He joins stars such as Bear Grylls, Claire Foy and Andrew Lloyd Webber in the new series of the BBC show.

Speak against The Daily Express and other media outlets, Kevin said, “It’s funny because I’m so far from Matooski. I am a 40 year old white male who is a ballroom dancer.
“I have never experienced any form of prejudice or racism or anything like that. It’s just not something I’ve ever had to deal with.
“I felt very defensive and protective of her, even though it was a long time ago. Just the fact that it had to do with my history.’
Kevin added that learning about Matooksi was “a big thing to process,” saying, “I didn’t think it was going to get emotional on the show, but at the time I did.”
It comes after the dancer shared an exhausted-looking throwback snap while reflecting on his past struggles.
The former Strictly pro, 40, marked ‘the most beautiful’ five years in a cryptic Instagram post as he confessed to always pretending to be in a better place.
Now a father to daughter Minnie with his partner Stacey, Kevin shared some more recent snaps where he looked much happier and healthier.
One was a handwritten note that read, “Remember, 5 years ago you dreamed about where you are now.”

He wrote in his caption, “Don’t like to talk about it too much in public, but a few years ago I wasn’t always doing as well as I always tried to discern.
‘Today I celebrate the most beautiful past 5 years❤️.’
Kevin and Stacey were crowned Strictly champions in 2018 after winning viewers’ hearts with their incredible collaboration.
Months later in 2019, it was revealed that the pair were dating, after Stacey split from her long-term boyfriend Sam Tucknott.
