A day after the cause of his suspension was announced, fans of Baltimore Orioles announcer Kevin Brown are calling for his reinstatement.
People brought up signs for Oriole Park near Camden Yards on Tuesday night, which showed a young man holding a poster that read, “Free Kevin Brown.”
That quickly turned into a chant that erupted as Baltimore batted in their game against the Astros.
Brown is reportedly set to return Friday after his comments about the team’s past fight against the Rays apparently upset the organization’s top management.
On July 23, while Baltimore was playing at Rays’ Tropicana Field, Brown pointed out that the team had won more games in Tampa this year than it had in the past three years in total.

“Already won 3-2 this year at (Tropicana Field) after three of 18 wins in the previous three years combined,” he said.
Those comments had him absent from the broadcast booth ever since, but the Baltimore Banner was reported he will be back later this week.
MASN’s play-by-play man has received a lot of support from his broadcast peers, including NFL Network’s Rich Eisen.
‘What exactly is he suspended for??,’ he asked.
Even outside experts in the field are confused by MASN’s decision – in which the Orioles have a 77 percent controlling stake.
Olivia Stomski, director of the Newhouse Sports Media Center at Syracuse University – Brown’s alma mater – told MailSport in a statement: “Kevin is a well-trained journalist. He set the context of the game and established the facts in a professional manner.
“If the Orioles have tried to censor their talented broadcaster, it’s disappointing not only for Kevin, but for the industry as a whole.”

Many of Brown’s play-by-play colleagues—including the Yankees’ Michael Kay, the Mets’ Gary Cohen, and the White Sox’s Jason Benetti—criticized Baltimore for the decision.
In a statement to Terrible announcementwho first reported Brown’s suspension, the Orioles denied that Brown was sent on a leave of absence.
A senior team official told the website, “We are not commenting on human resources matters,” and that they “look forward to hearing Kevin’s voice soon,” while disputing reports that a suspension has taken place.
Anyway, it looks like Brown will be back for Baltimore’s series with the Mariners.
