Ketamine Queen’s friends hit back at Matthew Perry death charges and say Friends star is to blame for overdose: ‘Nobody’s forcing anybody to do drugs’

Friends of the “Ketamine Queen” accused of selling the drug that killed Matthew Perry responded today, calling her “uplifting,” “sparkling,” “sweet” and “spiritual.”

A close friend of hers said alleged deadly drug dealer Jasveen Sangha had “no idea” she would face serious drug charges at her birthday party a few days ago.

Another friend suggested Perry was to blame, telling DailyMail.com that “at the end of the day, no one forces anyone to do drugs.”

Prosecutors on Thursday announced 18 charges against Sangha, 41, along with two doctors who allegedly illegally supplied Perry with ketamine, a middleman who trafficked it and Perry’s assistant who injected him with the drug the day he died.

Sangha pleaded not guilty today in a federal court in Los Angeles and was jailed pending trial.

Interior designer Clancy Carter, who has been friends with Sangha since 2008, told DailyMail.com she was surprised her friend would become involved in large-scale drug trafficking, as she came from a wealthy and supportive family.

“She always wears the most beautiful designer clothes. She has a family that takes care of her,” said the Orange County mother of three. “She’s never been the type to need money.

‘She has property in the UK. She is always travelling and doing fun things with her family.

“I would never guess that she would do something like that. But if they have evidence that directly links her, I’m completely shocked.”

She described Sangha as “uplifting, bubbly and sweet” and “spiritual,” but added: “Either way, someone died innocently, someone who needed the right attention and care. So it’s definitely concerning.”

According to an indictment filed Thursday, drug dealer Eric Fleming texted Perry’s assistant Kenny Iwamasa on Oct. 11 last year, telling him that Sangha “only does business with Perry.”[s] with high-end and celebrities in the supply of drugs.

Prosecutors then detailed the sale of 50 vials of liquid ketamine that Sangha allegedly sold to Perry through his assistant.

Carter told DailyMail.com that her friend did indeed mingle with Hollywood’s high society. She worked in marketing and event planning for the rich and famous and had been to previous Golden Globes and Oscar ceremonies with Carter.

“She knows a lot of people in the industry,” Carter said. “She and I went to the Golden Globes and the Oscars. There were a lot of celebrities she hung out with.

“I care about her very much. I would hate for something terrible to happen to her, no matter what the case.”

Artist Heather Pardieu, 42, says she has never seen Sangha dealing or being involved with drugs.

Artist Heather Pardieu, 42, also said she was surprised to hear of the charges against her friend Sangha, but suggested the actor himself may have been partly to blame for Perry’s death.

“She’s a friend of mine,” Pardieu told DailyMail.com. “I mean, at the end of the day, no one forces anyone to do drugs.”

She added that she had never seen Sangha dealing drugs or getting involved in them.

Prosecutors say the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and other law enforcement officials found thousands of pills and pounds of powder when they raided her North Hollywood home in March.

“During the search, authorities seized significant quantities of illegal drugs, including approximately 1.978 grams of orange pills that tested positive for methamphetamine, 79 vials of clear liquid that tested positive for ketamine, and various other suspected narcotics,” DEA Special Agent Tyler Abrego wrote in a March 20 criminal complaint.

The officer wrote that her phone contained text messages about selling ketamine, as well as videos of her “cooking” ketamine. This was the basis for a series of drug possession charges that were filed before her alleged involvement in Perry’s death came to light.

Friends say Sangha skillfully concealed the looming charges and dire legal situation from them, throwing a birthday party earlier this month and giving no hint of the troubles.

Los Angeles real estate agent Greg Wasik said Sangha seemed normal and calm as she celebrated her 41st birthday with friends at a Hollywood bar a few days ago

Los Angeles real estate agent Greg Wasik told DailyMail.com he was shocked to learn that his longtime friend had been charged with selling the drugs that killed Perry.

According to Wasik, Sangha appeared normal and calm as she celebrated her 41st birthday with friends at a bar in Hollywood a few days ago.

“I was at her birthday party the other day and there was no sign of anything like that in her life,” he said. “She was definitely just a pretty normal person that I’ve known for years.”

Wasik said he met Sangha through the dance music events they frequented. He attended her birthday party this month and a more extravagant 1970s-style event for her 40th birthday last year, when Sangha dressed in sequins, carried a pimp-style walking stick and posed next to a fancy Mercedes.

Prosecutors argued that Sangha, who has a wealthy family and dual nationality in the United Kingdom, posed a flight risk. Judge Alka Sagar agreed and jailed her ahead of a trial in October.
