Kerry Katona has revealed how often she washes her sheets and towels during her busy family life.

The 42-year-old former Atomic Kitten singer and mother of five joined the fierce online debate over clothes after Stacey Solomon recounted how she washed her clothes once a week.

Now Kerry had had her say, writing in her new! magazine column: ‘I live in a big house with a lot of kids, so it’s a nuisance.

‘Share the same bloody towel, that’s what I say! It’s not good for the environment, or your energy bills, to keep washing them.

It’s the same as the sheets. I probably change the sheets every fortnight.

The thorny issue of how often we should wash our sheets came up again recently when TV presenter and tidiness guru Stacey did a radio interview on the subject.

The host of Sort Your Life Out, who has gained thousands of fans for her sorted ticks, chimed in about how often bedding should be changed.

Stacey was questioned by Hits Radio presenter James Barr, who asked how long he should be changing his bedding now that he’s recently single.

The TV star, who was pregnant at the time, initially said: “I would say once a week.”

James reacted with surprise and Stacey later changed her answer to once a month, encouraging him to ‘wallow in his own dirt’.

Then he said, ‘You know what? While you’re single and enjoying that life, wallow in your own filth for a while.

You have no one to impress. You know when you’re single and you don’t have to shave your legs? So just go full Gruffalo. I feel like it’s the same.

It comes after Kerry recently vowed to slim down after gaining three stone in recent months.

She revealed that she needs to be ‘responsible’, so she chatted with her Instagram followers about her new fitness regimen.

The star went on to reveal that she’s made her New Year’s resolution to focus on her health and take advantage of her home gym.

Referring to her botched tummy tuck, she said: ‘I’m so mad at the way my body is. They operated on me and I messed it up. It’s my fault.

‘I’m like an IKEA flat pack. I come in a cardboard box and there are instructions on how to put it together because I have been slicing and dicing a lot.

‘The only way I can take control of this is me. You have to feel uncomfortable to feel comfortable and it’s really fucking hard and I need responsibility.’

She continued to joke: ‘I’m about 12 and a half stone tall and that’s just my left nipple!’
