Kentucky father dramatically arrested getting off Florida cruise ship after 10 years on the run
A feckless Kentucky father who failed to pay child support for 10 years was dramatically arrested after stepping off a cruise ship in Miami.
Dominic Weaver, 47, was handcuffed and taken into custody last week when the ship docked at Florida port.
He was transported from Miami to the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections, where he remains behind bars.
Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell related local affiliate WDRB that Weaver owes approximately $114,000 to $120,000 in unpaid child support for four children.
Police say he “hasn’t paid a dime,” and he is also wanted for two undisclosed crimes.
Weaver’s history dates back to 2019, when his name appeared on a list of people who didn’t pay their child support in the local newspaper.
O’Connell’s office posted the names of these idiots who skipped their child support payments.
“Our office is committed to working with individuals who have this obligation,” O’Connell said.

“I mean everything we can, you know, to the extent of even helping with job placement and things like that.”
Weaver owned more than 91,000 at the time, and was sentenced to five years’ probation after being convicted of gross non-support.
In 2021, that number grew to more than $99,000.
O’Connell told WDRB that he plans to ask the court to vacate Weaver’s sentence and sentence of four years in prison for the crime.
Weaver is expected to be arraigned on January 6, 2025.
