BREAKING NEWS: Kentucky Derby favorite Forte is CRACKED just hours before the big race, becoming the fifth horse to no longer compete, reducing the field to 18
Kentucky Derby favorite Forte has been dropped from Saturday’s race after a tumultuous week at Churchill Downs.
Four other horses were withdrawn early, bringing the total in the field to just 18.
Separately, four horses died leading up to the race, with the track calling the deaths “unusual and unacceptable.”
The decision to scratch Forte was made around 9am ET.
