Kendall Jenner may not sit down with the owners of 512 Tequila for a drink, but at least the two sides won’t be shooting each other again.
The 27-year-old socialite and entrepreneurial brand 818 Tequila and 512 Tequila reached a settlement on Thursday over their names and logos, according to TMZ.
Each of the brands named their tequilas after their respective area codes – 818 is the area code for the San Fernando Valley, while 512 is the area code for Austin, Texas.

The owners of 512 Tequila have also sued Kendall over the matching labels showing similarities.
512 Tequila’s CEO Nick Matzorkis told the outlet that his company dismissed their lawsuit after agreeing with 818 to make some changes.
“The lawsuit of Tequila 512 against 818 Tequila has been resolved,” he explained. “The parties have agreed that they each have the right to use their existing name and that they will both change their labels to make it clear that they are not related.”

Tequila 512 will reportedly be ‘est. 2012’ to their bottle, although it’s currently unclear how Tequila 818 will change their appearance.
Kendall Jenner was hit hard by the rival tequila company when they first filed a lawsuit against her brand in February of this year.
The suit alleged that 818 was a “blatant” scam of the Texas alcohol company’s idea.
At the time, representatives for Tequila 512 told DailyMail.com: “They’ve had plenty of time to make every effort to correct this since it first appeared in the media earlier last year, but instead they chose to to ignore. Not only do we have the right to protect our trademarks, we also have a legal obligation to do so. They know this and put us in this position where we have no choice but to take action to protect our unique brand identity.”

“Either Defendant intentionally used Plaintiff’s bottle in hopes of further blurring the lines between the two products, or Defendant was itself confused about the difference between the two brands,” the lawsuit said.
This isn’t the first controversy Kendall has faced with the brand after she was caught up in a storm of cultural appropriation allegations for naming her ghost after the Calabasas area code and overlooking tequila’s deep-seated Mexican heritage. .
Almost immediately after announcing her latest venture, Kendall came under intense scrutiny for her brand’s name and the effort to diminish the cultural significance of tequila in the Latinx community.
“There was just a lack of respect for the culture and importance of tequila to Mexico,” said bartender Lucas Assis. Yahoo Life in February. “She didn’t even know how to drink tequila properly.”
Kendall pledged to donate to the community in Jalisco, Mexico, last September after allegations of cultural appropriation arose.

He went on to explain how agave takes up to nine years to fully mature before harvesting, a questionable time frame since Kendall noted that she’d spent just four years perfecting her new brand.
‘The plant is embedded in the history and culture of the country. Celebrities need to understand the damaging effect their brands can have on the tequila industry, but especially on the farming of the agave plant,” he said.
“Using Mexico’s culture and history for nothing but capital gains is cultural appropriation. Not to mention leaving behind the small family distilleries that have been doing this for generations, struggling to keep up with the skyrocketing prices of the agave because farmers are simply unable to meet demand.”
