Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell paid tribute to Coolio on Thursday with separate Instagram posts.

The performers and former comedic partners each shared posts about the late rapper, who previously wrote the theme song for their TV show Kenan & Kel, titled Aw, Here It Goes!

The songwriter of The Gangsta’s Paradise, born Artis Leon Ivey Jr, died Wednesday evening at the age of 59 in Los Angeles.

Thompson, 44, shared three images on his Instagram story, the first of which simply read: ‘Wait, now Coolio!!!’

The Saturday Night Live cast member’s message was accentuated with a sad-eyed emoji.

The Primetime Emmy-winning artist then shared a black and white image of the late rapper in his Story.

He then wrote a short message that simply read, “D*** homie!!! Rest in Strength!!!’

The artist also recalled that the late rapper had supported him and admired his outlook on life.

“The last thing you told me when we last spoke a few months ago, you said you loved how I kept things positive and that I kept doing it,” he said.

Mitchell concluded by expressing his gratitude for Coolio’s kindness and guidance.

“Thank you for sharing your light and your talent with all of us and thank you for inspiring so many in your lyrics,” he wrote.

He stated, ‘Shout out to Coolio. It was the best. He had been on All That before at the time, so we felt like we knew him. So when you’re young you’re like, “Oh yeah, Coolio is my best friend.”‘

Coolio’s death was previously announced by TMZ on Wednesday afternoon.

The media outlet reported that the late rapper was visiting a friend’s home in Los Angeles when he passed away suddenly.

An official cause of death has not been established and police do not currently suspect malicious intent.

His talent manager, Sheila Finegan, confirmed the sad news that the artist “has touched the world with the gift of his talent and will be deeply missed.”
