Kelsea Ballerini says she’s “very happy” these days.

The 29-year-old pop star divorced fellow country singer Morgan Evans at the end of 2022 after nearly five years of marriage. And in recent weeks she has been seen with Outer Banks actor Chase Stokes.

But the singer took her mother Carla with her plus a ton to the Grammy Awards on Sunday.

Asked if she had brought Chase with her, she said: “My mom is my date and she’s as beautiful as ever…and I’m happy.”

The singer wore a yellow dress with matching heels for the eye-catching event. And his mother stood out in a form-fitting black mesh dress.

This comes after a huge tour and ahead of opening as a supporting act for Kenny Chesney later this year.

But she admitted that even though she lost Best Country Solo Performance to Willie Nelson after being nominated for her song Heartfist, she was “genuinely happy” to be at the ceremony.

She told Extra TV: ‘I’m really happy to be here and to have a reason to be here.

“I got nominated for a song about following your heart and trusting yourself, and I’ve been on a journey of relearning my wiring and trusting myself.

‘It feels amazing to be here for that and winning is… that’s subjective.

“I just came off tour last night with Wynonna and then I do the UK next week I think, and then I do a couple more Heartfirst tour headlining dates, and then I open for Kenny Chesney, and then it’s June!”

The beauty also said: “It’s the busiest I’ve been in a long time, but I’m in this place where I’m like, ‘I want to move on.’

“I’m kind of craving the movement forward, so I’m excited to be out there to share it, vibe it, and experience it.”

Ballerini grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee. Her father, Ed, a former sales manager for a country radio station, is of Italian descent. Her mother, Carla, has worked in marketing for Thomas Nelson Bible publication and an endorsement company.
