Kelsea Ballerini opened up in a preview of her upcoming interview on the call your dad podcastprompting her ex-husband, Morgan Evans, to criticize the singer for not sharing the “reality” on her Instagram on Tuesday.
The country pop star, 29, has opened up about his marriage to the Australian singer, 37, which resulted in an “unpleasant” divorce that was finalized last year in November.
In the brief snippet of the episode shared Monday, the “Miss Me More” singer recalled: “There were breakups, there were years of couples therapy. There were, like, many nights of sleeping on the couch,’ for People.
She continued: “I don’t think it was the first night, but it was a night where I was like, this is not what I want.”
The talented performer, who had initially married Evans in 2017, explained that she had slept on the sofa due to a “feeling of disconnection”.

The singer further opened up about her divorce from the Australian star, saying: “While he’s putting out a song about being blindsided, he’s getting half the house he didn’t pay for.”
‘How was I married to this person for so long and had no idea that character was hidden within that human being?’ she asked.
Morgan released a song titled Over For You in October 2022, a month before their divorce was final.
The song’s lyrics include “How long have you been waiting/To take our pictures down?/How long have you been breaking up/Why did I just find out?” and ‘What do you tell your parents?/ What do you tell yourself?/ Was it something I was missing/ Or is there someone else?’
The singer released her own EP on Valentine’s Day called Rolling Up With The Welcome Mat, featuring a song titled Blindside.
Some lyrics in the song also referenced their split: “Like that time in 2019, before that big show, we had a big fight/I slept on the couch and then the next night you put on the suit/I put on a I smiled and sang about how it’s okay to cry, dying inside.
Kelsea also admitted to the host, Alex Cooper, that she “didn’t want to have a wedding.” … I swore that I would never marry.

On Tuesday, her ex-husband took to his main Instagram page in response to Kelsea and claimed that she wasn’t revealing the whole truth.
He wrote: “It’s really sad for me to see this person, who I spent a lot of my life with and loved with all my heart, saying things that are not true and leaving out what really happened.”
The Kiss Somebody singer-songwriter added: “She knows I’m not the type of person to talk about those things publicly.” If this is what she needs to heal, I hope she helps.
‘All I ask is that if you’re on my pages, please don’t be mean. Don’t be mean to Kelsea, don’t be mean to each other. Life is too short,” Morgan concluded.
The two began dating in 2016 and tied the knot a year later in 2017 during a romantic ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. However, in August 2022, the singers announced that they were divorcing after almost five years of marriage.
In a statement on her Instagram, Ballerini revealed: “I have always done my best to share my life with you in a real and vulnerable way, while also protecting layers of my personal life as they unfold.” This is now public record, so I wanted you to know directly from me that I’m going through a divorce.’
He added that the decision was “difficult” and that his “journey” had come “to an end.” The singer expressed emotion that she was “grateful for the years of marriage with Morgan and hopeful for the next seasons.”
Her ex also penned her own short statement, writing: “I am extremely saddened to confirm that after almost 5 years of marriage, Kelsea and I are separating.” I wish it were otherwise, but unfortunately it is not.
