Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have awkward on-air exchange after she accuses him of making her the ‘villain’

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos had an awkward conversation on Thursday’s episode of their eponymous talk show after Ripa revealed that she once provoked her neighbors for hosting an “illegal rave.”

Things got a little awkward when the pair discussed Airbnb’s use of anti-party technology ahead of New Year’s Eve, which had prompted Ripa, 54, to recall how a group of students renting a property next door had hosted a party during the COVID -19 pandemic. lockdown.

During the segment, she revealed that she called the police about the loud noise, but when they couldn’t help her, she decided to go to the house alone instead.

While Consuelos initially giggled at his wife’s anecdote, he seemed to grow increasingly uncomfortable as she continued.

“Students stayed on certain floors,” Ripa recalled. “And then this one floor… they rented to someone who was allegedly staying there, as a student or whatever.

“But they organized illegal raves, like discos.”

At that point, Consuelos, 53, explained he wasn’t there because he was in Vancouver at the time.

Continuing the anecdote, Ripa shared, “First I called 3-1-1. Then I called 9-1-1.

Consuelos seemed uneasy as his wife recalled angrily showing up at a neighbor’s house during the COVID-19 lockdown after they woke her up with noise from a party

‘9-1-1 was like, “Ma’am, a party is not an emergency.” And I thought, “What do I have to do to make them stop?”

After not getting the help she needed from emergency services, Ripa rushed to the building herself.

She said: ‘Finally, in the middle of the night, in winter, I go there, in a bathrobe, like a maniac, and bang on the door.’

Ripa pressed every buzzer in the building to get in, eventually gaining access to the correct floor where she was asked if she was from Uber.

“I’m like, ‘I’m not the Uber, I’m your neighbor.’ These two students come out and I say, ‘First of all, what you’re doing is illegal,'” she said.

“They say, ‘No, no, no, we live here.’ I say, “No, you don’t. I actually know who lives here, and it’s not you. I’m sure they don’t know you’re running a nightclub here. Turn off the music. It’s a Tuesday.” ‘

Consuelos then joked, “You became that person.”

That didn’t sit well with Ripa, who replied, “No, I’m not that person. They are that person.”

At first, Consuelos giggled along with Ripa’s story, but as time went on, he seemed more uncomfortable

Dissatisfied with her husband’s reaction, she told him, “I like that I’m suddenly the bad guy in the story.”

She finally confirmed – as her husband looked away uncomfortably – that she had gotten them to turn off the music.

‘It was three o’clock in the morning. On a Tuesday,” she added. ‘What are you doing?’

The tense exchange comes just days after Consuelos made a cheeky joke about Ripa after revealing she had been “very quiet” during their recent trip to Italy.

During Monday’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, the TV presenter revealed they had headed to Europe so his wife could watch her first Campobasso Wolves match as the pair are both investors in the club.

About their trip, Ripa told viewers that she was forced to keep quiet during their vacation because she doesn’t speak Italian.

She said: ‘In Italy I become even quieter because I don’t speak Italian.

“So I’m the quietest version of myself I’ve ever been.”

“Your fantasy version of me,” Ripa replied. “Someone who has no idea what’s going on.”

Consuelos revealed that because he speaks Italian, he took the helm on their trip and ordered food for them every time they went out to eat.

But Kelly wasn’t very happy with her husband’s efforts, labeling him the “worst translator.”

“Just to be clear,” she continued. ‘He’s the only one of us who speaks Italian, so we rely on him to tell us things. So he in turn rewards us by not telling us anything.”
