Kelly Osbourne has revealed how a film executive once called her ‘too fat’ for television.
The 39-year-old reflected on the moment on today’s episode of The Osbournes podcast, revealing that it took place in the early 2000s and the director was not identified.
“When I was a kid, I got pulled into the head of the agency office and he put golf balls in a cup and gave me a whole speech about how I was too fat for TV and that I needed to lose weight, and that if I I lost weight and I would look better,” she said.
At the time, Kelly was cast as Lindsay Lohan’s best friend in Freaky Friday. However, she quit when her mother Sharon Osbourne was diagnosed with cancer.
“And he just said, ‘You’re not a movie star, but you could be one if you lose weight,'” she said.
Kelly Osbourne has revealed how a film director once called her ‘too fat’ for television
During today’s episode of The Osbourne’s podcast, Kelly told a story about the time a movie director told her she was “too fat” for television
Her brother Jack Osbourne called in the incident “the most LA st ever,” while Kelly replied: “I know.’
“While he’s putting golf balls in a cup in his office. And I just thought, this is the most insulting damn thing [thing].’
It comes after Kelly addressed rumors about her recent dramatic weight loss, with many speculating that she had jumped on the 2024 craze of taking Ozempic.
“I know everyone thinks I took Ozempic,” Kelly said in an April interview with Additional.
‘I didn’t use Ozempic. I don’t know where that came from. My mother took Ozempic,” she added.
Kelly credits having her son Sidney, whom she welcomed with husband Sid Wilson in 2022, for her stunning 85-pound weight loss.
“I had gestational diabetes and I needed to lose the weight I gained during pregnancy,” Kelly explained.
“Otherwise I was at greater risk of actually developing diabetes, which I didn’t want,” she explained. ‘I cut out sugar and carbohydrates and lost weight quickly.’
Kelly may not have used Ozempic, but she is a fan of it and calls it “amazing.”
‘There are a million ways to lose weight. Why not do that through something that isn’t as boring as exercise?’ she said E! News.

“And he just said, ‘You’re not a movie star, but you could be one if you lose weight,'” she said.
And while Kelly’s face has changed a lot over the years, she is quick to point out that she had the stomach sleeve done, which led to an 85-pound weight loss.
Gaining and then losing weight while pregnant with her son Sidney also left her with sagging skin.
Kelly told the outlet that she recently had a non-surgical procedure called EmFace and EmSculpt to tighten things up.
“I’m halfway through my four facial sessions and I’m already noticing such a huge difference,” she said of the procedure, which relies on high-intensity electromagnetic waves to tone and contour the body, and can be combined with a version for the face called Emface.
