In an interview with Billboard, the Since U Been Gone singer explained, “One is the beginning, when everything is bright and shiny, and It’s Complicated is more the reality.”

She said the 2009 romantic comedy Nancy Meyers starring Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin, and Steve Martin is one of her favorite movies, but she wasn’t about to have Martin star in the song it inspired.

“I generally don’t ask because I get really nervous when I bother people,” the Behind These Hazel Eyes hitmaker said.

“But literally, within hours my producer got a reply, ‘Oh my God, he would like it, when are you recording it?'”

“I just like the idea of things happening organically,” Clarkson added. “So many things had to happen for that to happen.”

And she would love to have the Only Murders in the Building star on her talk show.

“My ideal time is for him to come on my show and then we perform — but I’m just taking him on my show so we can talk and hang out so I can meet him,” she said.

The Breakaway singer wrote most of the new songs during her divorce from Blackstock, 46, after seven years of marriage. The couple share daughter River, eight, and son Remington, seven.

‘I had never felt that before. That kind of chemical… that level of just chemical reaction, I just never felt that and I just remembered the first time we met, I was like ‘Woah.’ I just felt something.’

But not all chemistry is good, the Grammy winner experienced that during her divorce.

‘And then things can go very badly, chemistry. You can have great chemistry with someone you really shouldn’t be with, you know. Not that one person is good or bad, whatever. It’s just not a healthy environment.’

“I just feel like chemistry is a beautiful and amazing thing, but it’s powerful for good and bad. Let you do stupid things.’
