Kelly Clarkson reveals WHY she moved hit talk show from Los Angeles to New York City

Kelly Clarkson opened up during an interview Thursday about moving her talk show to the East Coast.

During a conversation with Nancy O’Dell TalkShopLivethe mother-of-two explained that she told her cast and crew in January, “Either I can’t go on with the show, or I have to go like East Coast.”

The three-time Grammy winner – who announced her new residency in Las Vegas this week – explained that she felt isolated, saying, “My family is from the East Coast, they’re based in North Carolina, so it was one of those things where . .. me and my kids just needed a fresh start.’

Kelly continued, “It was really cool that NBC supported me because I was like ‘You guys, I love this show, I really do, I didn’t even know I would’, but I was like, ‘I have to make a change for me and my family.”

This fall, The Kelly Clarkson Show moves from the grounds of Universal Los Angeles to the iconic NBC Studios at Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.

This comes after Clarkson responded to claims she allowed her talk show’s set to become a “toxic” workplace after a Rolling Stone report placed the blame on several of Clarkson’s producers.

After fans and observers drew comparisons between her and Ellen DeGeneres, whose popular talk show has been polluted by similar claims, Clarkson addressed the issue with a lengthy message posted to her Instagram page two weeks ago.

She vowed that she and the rest of the “senior staff” would undergo “leadership training” to “ensure any notion of toxicity is stamped out.”

“In my 20 years in the entertainment industry, I’ve always led with my heart and what I thought was right,” the singer stated.

“I love my team on The Kelly Clarkson Show, and it is unacceptable to find out that someone feels unheard and/or disrespected on this show,” she continued.

She added: “As we prepare for a move to the East Coast, I am more committed than ever to making sure that not only our team that will move, but our new team in New York is made up of the best and nicest in the business.”

Earlier this week, Clarkson revealed she would be heading to Las Vegas this summer to perform a 10-day residency at Planet Hollywood’s Zappos Theater following the release of her 10th studio album Chemistry.

Chemistry: An Intimate Night with Kelly Clarkson runs from July 28 to August 19, and tickets go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. PST through Ticketmaster.

It marks Kelly’s first major concert tour since her 28-date, $17.5 million “Meaning of Life” tour in 2019.

Clarkson wrote much of Chemistry about her seven-year marriage to Brandon Blackstock, which ended acrimoniously a year ago.

The 40-year-old Texan pop powerhouse wrote on Monday, “I’m so excited to announce I’m finally going to Las Vegas this summer for 10 shows! I’ll sing all your favorites… and yes, I’ll sing some new ones too!’

The aspiring rancher and rodeo sponsor also fathered daughter Savannah, 21; and son Seth, 16; from his 11-year marriage to Melissa Ashworth.

The four-time Voice Champion is currently coaching the 23rd season of The Voice singing competition, which airs Mondays and Tuesdays on NBC.

Kelly rose to fame after becoming the first American Idol winner in 2002 and is currently on the fourth season of her talk show.
