Kelly Clarkson reveals she “knew in her heart” that her marriage to Brandon Blackstock was doomed
Kelly Clarkson opened up about her split from Brandon Blackstock on Wednesday.
On an episode of The Zane Lowe Show, the 41-year-old singer-songwriter revealed that she “knew in [her] heart’ that her marriage to the television producer, 46, was coming to an end.
While promoting her upcoming album Chemistry, the daytime talk show host revealed that she and her now-ex went to couples counseling and “try to make it work.”
However, the American Idol winner – who recently described the worst part of her divorce – realized “it just didn’t work out” before they inevitably split in 2020 after seven years of marriage.
The former couple shares daughter – River, nine – and son – Remington, seven.

Blackstock is also father to son Seth and daughter Savannah from his previous marriage to Melissa Ashworth.
“I want to make this as bad as possible,” she recalled at the time. “But I think in my heart I knew it just wasn’t going to happen.”
She also shared her feelings and went through dark periods after the divorce.
During the “fucking” grieving process, she remembered being on a “rollercoaster” of emotions.
However, with the help of a therapist, she managed to overcome the difficult time.
“It’s very helpful to have a trained professional who knows how to navigate you through rough seas,” she explained.
Since the split, she has spoken openly about how their family dynamics have changed.
On an episode of IRL that came out in March, Clarkson spoke to podcast host Angie Martinez about how her kids often feel “really sad” because their parents are living apart.

“I just sit there and I’m like, ‘I get it. I’m also from a divorced family. I get it. That sucks, you know? But we’re going to work it out. And you’re so loved by both of us.” ,” she said on the show.
Previously, Clarkson and her ex-husband met during a rehearsal for the Academy of Country Music Awards in May 2006.
The two got engaged in December 2012 and tied the knot in October 2013.
In 2020, she filed for divorce from the music manager, which was officially finalized two years later, in 2022.
