Although the 1997 film received mediocre reviews from critics, it was commercially successful at the box office and developed a strong cult following.

The teen comedy grossed $23.7 million against an $8.5 million budget and became popular with millennials who grew up on Good Burger and the All That skits that introduced the fictional fast-food restaurant.

Mitchell originally played the role of Ed, the teenage cashier at Good Burger, while Thompson left the audience laughing as Dexter Reed, a 16-year-old high school student.

For this relaunch, Phil Traill (The Middle, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Single Drunk Female) is at the helm as director.

Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert (All That and Good Burger) serve as writers and executive producers.

The sequel also stars Carmen Electra, Rob Gronkowski and Jillian Bell.

During the series, they were often paired together, most notably in the recurring Mavis and Clavis sketch, along with their Good Burger sketches.
