Keith Urban slammed over detail in his church attire as he attends mass with wife Nicole Kidman and daughter Faith in Sydney

Keith Urban faced backlash for his choice of clothing while attending church in Sydney with his wife Nicole Kidman and daughter Faith.

The New Zealand-born country singer, 57, was seen leaving the service on Sunday wearing a navy blue long-sleeved shirt, black trousers and sneakers.

But fans slammed the guitarist for attending Mass leaving the top buttons of his shirt open.

“Lift up your shirt Keith! You’re in church, not a bar,” one person said.

“Since when is it stylish to wear an unbuttoned shirt with tattoos and worn-out sneakers to church,” another commented.

“Keith needs to button the top two remaining buttons of his shirt. His classic ‘show my chest and tattoo look’ is not a good image for the church,” said a third.

Another added: “None of them are dressed for church, maybe for a day of shopping, but not for church.”

However, some defended Keith’s appearance with one lyric: “I don’t think God would judge people based on what they wear or their hairstyle.”

‘They look beautiful. They are in church. I’m glad to see that,” another agreed.

Keith and his wife Nicole arrived in Australia on Saturday to reunite with her extended family for their first Christmas since the death of her beloved mother Janelle.

The actress has had a difficult few months since Janelle passed away in September at the age of 84 – just hours before Nicole won an award at the Venice Film Festival.

She is now preparing for her first Christmas without her mother and flying back to Sydney to reunite with her family as they rally to support each other.

It is tradition for Nicole to fly back to Australia over the Christmas period and she and Keith often host New Year’s Eve celebrations at their Sydney Harbor apartments.

Over the past decade, Nicole has purchased two penthouses in the exclusive North Sydney Latitude building and then combined them into a mega apartment.

While she’s back in Sydney this Christmas, Nicole will no doubt be reunited with her younger sister Antonia, 54, and her family for the holidays.

Nicole and Keith married on June 25, 2006, after meeting at an event the previous year.

The couple married at the Cardinal Cerretti Chapel on the grounds of St. Patrick’s College in Manly, Sydney.

A-list guests including Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness, along with Naomi Watts and director Baz Luhrmann.

Nicole’s two adopted children, Isabella, 31, and Connor, 29, whom she shares with ex-husband Tom Cruise, acted as bridesmaid and usher.
