Keith Urban is reportedly glad his wife Nicole Kidman’s latest age-gap romantic comedy wasn’t well-received by critics.
The 57-year-old Hollywood actress’ new Netflix film, A Family Affair, starring 36-year-old Zac Efron, has been poorly received by critics, but the country musician is “secretly very happy” with it, according to New Idea magazine.
Efron takes on the role of vain movie star Chris Cole, while Kidman plays writer Brook Harwood, who is the mother of his patient assistant Zara (Joey King).
An insider told the magazine that Keith (56) was unhappy about his wife getting cozy with Zac, despite the two last being lovers 12 years ago in the popular crime series The Paperboy.
“He trusts Nicole completely, but he is concerned that she is getting so intimate with Zac on screen for the second time,” they said.
“She probably won’t do it a third time, which makes Keith incredibly happy deep down — something he should keep to himself, of course!”
Kidman and Efron try their best to heat things up in the highly anticipated Netflix rom-com A Family Affair, coming out in May-December, but the results are rather tepid.
Their characters have a drunken fling, but after a sizzling start, their on-screen chemistry quickly cools.
