Keith Urban compared Miley Cyrus’ voice to “an ashtray” in a recent interview.
Appears on Nova 96.9’s Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Ritchie On Thursday morning, the 56-year-old country star was asked about the 31-year-old Flowers hitmaker.
“Keith, can you tell us a little bit about Miley Cyrus and Miley Cyrus’ talent? You’ve performed with her before, right?” asked co-host Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald.
The Australian rocker responded with a glowing tribute to the pop star, before giving her a bizarre “compliment.”
“I’ve always liked Miley. I love that voice, man, that voice… she sounds like an ashtray. And I mean that as a compliment. She sounds like the carpet in the RSL!” Keith joked.
The musician also took aim at fake, “BS” pop artists who abuse country music to appear authentic, often disrespecting the Nashville country music industry.
“It’s funny because you still need the support of the system in Nashville. And if you do it the right way, like Post (Malone) did, you’ll see the love,” Keith said.
Fitzy then wondered who the younger players are who are breaking the established order.

“They’re just rootsy, authentic, storytelling people. They’re legit. Aussies like legit. So Luke (Combs) is legit, Lainey Wilson is legit. Morgan Wallen is legit. I think a lot of people are fed up with the BS with a lot of artists… what’s real and what’s not,” the country music star said.
It comes just a few days after Keith revealed the very surprising activity and his wife Nicole Kidman being busy together.
The country star admitted that, like the 57-year-old Australian actress, he also practices self-care by getting facials and using LED light therapy face masks.
Keith spoke on The Kyle & Jackie O Show to promote his world tour and gave presenters Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson an insight into his skincare regime.

The 56-year-old country star appeared on Nova 96.9’s Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Ritchie on Thursday morning and also took aim at fake, “BS” pop artists who abuse country music to appear authentic.
“Do you enjoy the, you know, when you get a steamy facial? I do,” Kyle, 53, asked Keith.
Keith then replied, “I’m always glad I do it. But I always forget,” before revealing that he’s even tried the expensive LED masks, which boost collagen and minimize redness and wrinkles.
When Kyle asked if he had tried an LED mask, Keith replied, “Yeah, they’re pretty good!” He confirmed that he was taking part in the training alongside Nicole and their daughters Sunday (16) and Faith (14).
Kyle was then very impressed with Keith’s youthful appearance and admitted that his extensive skin care regimen was apparently working well for him.
“They clearly work better for you than for me, you’re very pretty!” the radio host joked.
