Kaylee Gain was suspended from school for fighting a day before being beaten into concrete

Missouri high school student Kaylee Gain was suspended from school for fighting just a day before she was brutally beaten by another teen in a filmed brawl that went viral.

Gain, 16, was left in a coma for two weeks after the assault at Hazelwood East High School in St. Louis, in which a teenage girl repeatedly hit her head against concrete.

The day before the March 18 fight, Gain was suspended from school for fighting with another girl, who was friends with the teen now accused of the incident, as reported by The New York Post.

Gain and the girl, who remains in juvenile detention, were apparently members of warring friend groups at their high school.

The accused girl’s family previously told DailyMail.com that she is the real victim who was ‘harassed and bullied’ before the viral incident and pushed back on calls to charge the 15-year-old girl as an adult.

Speaking to DailyMail.com, the aunt of the arrested girl confirmed that she was an honor roll student at Hazelwood East High School with an exemplary record and “defended herself” during the fight with Kaylee.

The family has created a petition on Change.org calling on the St. Louis Juvenile Court to show “compassion” to the schoolgirl, DailyMail.com reported.

Her aunt said Kaylee was not being bullied by her niece and urged people to donate to help with her legal bills as the situation was not exactly what it seemed.

“If people want to donate, they should do so through CashApp and not through the petition,” she added.

“We set up a GoFundMe but it was taken down within hours, we have a lawyer. The family is all together and we will get through this.”

The fundraiser, which was removed by GoFundMe, said the teen was “unfairly” portrayed as a bully and that she is the victim “in a complicated situation.”

It grossed almost $3,000 before it was torn down.

The page was set up on March 16, pleading for help with her legal defense as her family claims they are being targeted with “racist death threats.”

But the money is now being returned to those who donated, with GoFundMe officials confirming it removed the web page hours after it was created.

In a statement to DailyMail.com, a GoFundMe spokeswoman said: ‘I can confirm the fundraiser has been removed and all donors have been refunded.

“The GoFundMe Terms of Service expressly prohibit fundraising for the legal defense of an alleged violent crime.”

But the girl’s family says she “deserves amnesty and a chance at forgiveness,” adding that her “due process hearing is affected.”

The unnamed girl has been charged with assault and is being held in St. Louis Family Court, with a hearing expected in early April.

So far, more than 470 people have signed the plea, which claims the incident “is being used to define her character and incite racial division and political conflict, with the MO AG calling on the courts to charge her as an adult .’

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey previously warned that the brutality was the result of an obsession with woke DEI policies and the soft approach to justice under former St. Louis District Attorney Kim Gardner and current Rep. Cori Bush, a hardline progressive democrat.

He also called for the girl to be charged as an adult if Kaylee does not survive the attack, something supporters of her attacker lashed out at.

Gain’s family says they want “justice through the legal system” but pleaded with other teens not to seek revenge on her alleged attacker.

They confirmed that Kaylee “suffered a skull fracture that resulted in brain bleeding and swelling” and that she still has not regained consciousness 10 days later.

“While the family would like to see justice ultimately served through the legal system, their focus at this time is solely on Kaylee’s recovery,” her family said in a statement through their attorney.

‘The family is also asking all members of the community at large to come together to denounce teen violence and bullying, as there have been far too many recent examples of teen violence resulting in significant injuries and in some cases even led to deaths.

“Kaylee’s parents would like to make a special request to their fellow parents in the community to ask them to teach their children that physical violence and bullying are never appropriate, and to emphasize to their children that the lives of both perpetrators of teen violence and the Victims of violence can be permanently and forever changed as a result of violent incidents that last only a few minutes.

“Finally, the family would like to emphasize that they do not want any form of retaliation against anyone who was directly or indirectly involved in this incident.”

The statement ends with a prayer for Kaylee’s “full recovery” and hopes that “teenagers realize that temporary acts of violence can have life-changing consequences” by reading about the highly publicized attack.

A video of the incident circulated on social media, showing another girl slamming the teen’s head into the concrete after throwing multiple punches and throwing her to the ground.

Kaylee appeared to be having a fit as groups of other teens argued just a few feet away.

Police found the girl with serious head injuries near the intersection of Norgate Drive and Claudine Drive, about a five-minute walk from the high school campus. She was taken to hospital and remains in critical condition.

After news of the altercation broke, the Hazelwood School District released a statement condemning the community violence.

“It is a tragedy when children are injured,” the statement read. ‘Bullying and fighting in the community is an issue that we must all take responsibility for and work to resolve for the sake of our children.

“The Hazelwood School District extends our sincere condolences to all involved and will provide additional emotional support from our support and crisis team to those in need.”
