Kaye Adams is forced to call in sick live on air after waking with a throat infection
“Someone will be with you at nine!” Kaye Adams is forced to call in sick live on air after waking up with a sore throat ahead of her Good Morning Scotland call
Kaye Adams had to call in sick on Wednesday morning while presenting her regular BBC Radio Good Morning Scotland segment.
The 60-year-old Loose Women panellist was due to make a phone call about the Scottish government’s recommendation to decriminalize street drugs, but resigned when she woke up with a painful throat infection.
She introduced her segment 30 minutes before its scheduled 9 a.m. start, saying, “I opened my mouth and I had no idea what was coming out, which I usually do, to be honest.
‘I’m having a hard time today. I could just call in, and then we could call emergency services, I guess, because I think it’s failing me.
“I thought it was better than it was, but when I got here this morning … it’s going to be annoying, I’m sorry.”

However, the seasoned presenter later admitted she might not even call, telling listeners, “Someone will be with you at nine.”
Hosts Gary Robertson and Laura Maxwell admitted that the presenter had gone home to recover as her voice had been reduced to a ‘beep’.
“Stay tuned to see who will be presenting at nine,” Robertson added.
With Adams out of action, guest presenters Lucy Whyte and Laura McGhie were parachuted in at the last minute to act as emergency cover.
The presenter recently dismissed rumors of reported feuds between the Loose Women stars as nonsense.
Adams, who first appeared on the show in 1999, admitted she is bored with constant speculation about the dynamic.
She told the Mirror: ‘I’m tired of the fact that we almost always get asked if we gossip about each other.’
The broadcaster added: “When we’re asked about feuds, we think it’s funny. It’s certainly not a snake’s nest.
“The one thing I can guarantee when I go to the Loose Women, no matter what lineup of women, no matter what subjects, at some point in that day I’m actually going to be laughing my guts out.
And I don’t know how many other people can say that about their working lives. I’m very happy to say, hand on heart, at some point in the day we’ll be tucking ourselves in, which is lovely.”
Adams also shared details of an “embarrassing” experience that left her nearly out of work while chatting on a recent episode of podcast, How To Be 60.
She explained that the ordeal was “terrible” and explained that the injured leg was the result of going too heavy during a grueling F45 training class.
“My leg just gave out,” she recalls. ‘I was in the middle of London. I walked from Goodge Street to Bank and my leg literally stopped working.
“It was so embarrassing; I couldn’t climb the subway stairs. You know, if you raise one leg and then raise the other, you look like Frankenstein’s monster.’
She added, “I just couldn’t understand what was happening to me. Usually at a subway station I’m flamboyantly hopping up and down the stairs – “look at me, I’m 60 and I’m jumping!”‘
