Katy Perry turns wrinkly and old with Orlando Bloom using aging filter while desperately trying to promote new song after pop flop
Katy Perry posted a post on Instagram with her fiancé Orlando Bloom on Tuesday, showing her under a filter that showed her age as 50, while Bloom looked unfazed.
In the post, which was scored ahead of her upcoming single Lifetimes, the 39-year-old singer let her black locks loose and wore a gray shirt as she developed more and more wrinkles as she posed next to the 47-year-old actor.
The Santa Barbara, California-born singer has been heavily promoting her upcoming single Lifetimes, after her last single, Woman’s World, received lukewarm reception.
Perry referenced her partner’s major roles in The Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean film franchises in the caption of the post.
“Apparently the filter doesn’t work on elves or pirates,” Perry captioned the humorous post. “Sad.”
Katy Perry, 39, took to Instagram with her fiancé Orlando Bloom, 47, on Tuesday with a post that showed her under a filter that showed her age as 50, while Bloom remained untouched.
At the end of the era progression filter, which ran until the year 2074, Bloom and Perry turned to each other and kissed.
The filter was a hit in the comments thread, as many of Perry’s fans called out the video for her 2010 single The one that got awayin which she used makeup to look decades older.
“Are you the actress from ‘The one that got away’?” one fan said, while another added a GIF from the clip.
Another fan said, “Katy Perry got older for the first time,” while another fan said, “Orlando will always love Katy.”
Perry, who has scored hit singles in the past with 2008’s I Kissed a Girl, 2010’s California Gurls and 2013’s Roar, announced via social media on Monday that “Lifetimes” would be the next single from her upcoming album 143.
She posted an image of the single’s cover, which features a heart, and used it in her social media posts.
The heavy promotion comes after Woman’s World, the debut single from her forthcoming album, peaked at No. 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and No. 65 on the Global 200. Variety reported.
Perry struggled to gain publicity after it was revealed that she had worked on her new album with Dr. Luke, the producer Kesha accused of sexual misconduct, leading to years of litigation on both sides.
Perry captioned the humorous post, “I guess the filter doesn’t work on elves or pirates. Sad.”

Other fans responded with messages of support to the social media post featuring the singer and her partner
Perry posted a response on Instagram earlier this month after fans slammed the music video for Woman’s World, which was supposed to deliver an inspiring message for women, for its skimpy outfits and the aforementioned involvement of Dr. Luke.
Perry said of the video’s themes: “We’re having fun, we’re being sarcastic, it’s very slapstick and very direct… with this set, it’s not so much about the male gaze, but it’s about the male gaze.”
“We’re really overdoing it, and it’s a little bit overdone, because we’re going to be so crushed. That’s a reset for me and my idea of the divine feminine. After this, we’re going to a completely different world.”
Perry announced last February that she was leaving the series American Idol after seven seasons to focus on her career as a solo artist.
Perry is scheduled to release her new album 143 on September 20 and has already previewed songs like Nirvana, I’m His He’s Mine (featuring Doechii) and Gimme Gimme (featuring 21 Savage) via social media.
Perry’s most recent release was the album Smile in August 2020, featuring the single “Daisies.” It debuted at number five on the Billboard 200.
