Katy Perry steps out in highlighter green sporty look in New York City… after deflecting fallout from Dr. Luke collaboration

Katy Perry shone this weekend in a strikingly cheerful and sporty look.

After making a brief appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival to support her fiancé Orlando Bloom at the premiere of his film The Cut, the 39-year-old Fireworks singer is back in New York City.

The American Idol judge showed off her slim figure in a striking green three-quarter zip top and black knee-length leggings, with the same green design down the sides of her legs.

Katy wore her dark hair in a sleek ponytail and wore sunglasses as the crowd tried to get her attention.

Trainers and a large black leather bag completed the I Kissed a Girl hitmaker’s look.

The singer’s appearance comes after she faced criticism over her collaboration with Dr. Luke on her album Women’s Work and her ‘denial’ of the fact.

Fans accused her of “manipulating” them by failing to address outrage over her work with the music producer with whom Kesha has been embroiled in a decade-long legal battle.

Katy’s pop colleague Kesha accused Dr. Luke of sexual and physical abuse. He went on to sue Kesha for defamation in 2014, but in June 2023 a settlement was reached before it went to trial.

Katy’s new album is about ‘female empowerment’, which left many fans ‘angry’ and ‘disappointed’ about Dr. Luke’s involvement.

Fans of the Teenage Dream hitmaker were furious and did not hesitate to express their displeasure.

“The way she didn’t even answer the question lol,” one fan tweeted on X (formerly Twitter).

Another wrote: ‘She didn’t actually say anything??? Let’s not be gaslighted because she just revealed she didn’t have to work with him but it was her choice.’

Katy’s response was also criticized as “a textbook example of distraction.” One person pointed out that she “decided to work with Dr. Luke even though she had worked with multiple people in the past.”

Katy first spoke about the controversy on Wednesday’s episode of the Call her daddy podcast, in which she told host Alex Cooper that Dr. Luke is just “one of many” producers who “facilitate” her music.

However, she stressed that the album is based on her own experiences, rather than those of the people she collaborates with, before bizarrely shifting the conversation to how motherhood has “empowered” her as an artist.

Katy said she understood that her collaboration with Dr. Luke had sparked a lot of conversations, but she still hadn’t acted on them directly.

“I understand it sparked a lot of conversations. And he was one of many collaborators that I worked with,” she said, insisting that the lyrics come from her own experience.

“When I talk about Woman’s World, I say that I feel so powerful now as a mother, as a woman, bringing a child into the world and creating life, a new set of organs, a brain, a heart,” she said.

“I created a whole heart and I did it. I still do it. And I’m still a matriarch. And because I really feel grounded in that, that’s what I speak from.”
