Katy Perry keeps it casual in black sweat suit as she and Orlando Bloom step out in NYC ahead of her VMA performance

Katy Perry was spotted out and about in New York City this weekend with her fiancé Orlando Bloom, a few days ahead of her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards and Video Vanguard award.

The 39-year-old pop star wore a black tracksuit with white underwear, which she paired nicely with the low-rise pants.

Her jet-black hair was pulled back into an imperfect low bun at the back of her head and she wore large black sunglasses.

She wore a full face of makeup beneath the sleek and sporty accessory and carried an iced coffee.

The 47-year-old Australian actor wore a white T-shirt, light jeans and white sneakers.

The couple had their four-year-old daughter Daisy Dove Bloom with them, dressed in a bubblegum pink outfit.

In mid-August, it was announced that Perry will receive MTV’s Vanguard Award in 2024.

“Katy is a musical wonder and a true pop culture icon,” said Bruce Gillmer, Chief Content Officer of Music at Paramount+.

In the announcement, he added: ‘With her groundbreaking creative vision, she has become a global phenomenon, conquering the world’s biggest stages.’

The Roar singer has been criticised by fans in recent months, including for her collaboration with controversial music producer Dr Luke on her single Woman’s World and for turning down a call from Call Her Daddy podcast host Alex Cooper when she asked about it.

Fans accused her of “manipulating” them by failing to respond to outrage over her work with the music producer, who has been embroiled in a decade-long legal battle with Kesha over alleged sexual abuse.

The Tik Tok songwriter accused Dr. Luke, real name Ɓukasz Sebastian Gottwald, of sexual and physical abuse. He filed a defamation lawsuit against Kesha in 2014, but a settlement was reached in June 2023 before it went to trial.

Katy’s new album 143 was promoted with a theme of “female empowerment,” which led to outrage among many fans over Gottwald’s involvement.

Katy said she understands her collaboration “started a lot of conversations,” but she failed to directly address the producer’s troubled reputation.

“I understand it sparked a lot of conversations. And he was one of many collaborators that I worked with,” she said, emphasizing that her lyrics come from her own experience.

“When I talk about Woman’s World, I say I feel so powerful now as a mother, as a woman, giving birth to children, creating life, creating a new set of organs, a brain, a heart,” Perry explains.

“I created a whole heart and I did it. I still do it. And I’m still a matriarch. And because that’s where I really feel grounded, that’s where I speak from,” she continued.
