Katy Perry addresses claims she stole her daughter’s name from a notable Aussie celebrity – ahead of her long-awaited AFL Grand Final show

Katy Perry has responded to claims she stole her daughter’s name from a popular Australian celebrity.

The 39-year-old American pop star is currently Down Under in preparation for her highly anticipated appearance in the AFL Grand Final at the MCG on Saturday.

She spoke to radio hosts Brendan Fevola and Nick Cody about the performance and they also questioned her about the claim that she had taken her daughter Daisy’s name from their boyfriend.

They recalled how Katy met their co-host Fifi Box and her then young daughter Daisy Belle, now five, when she was last a guest on their show, The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick.

The duo asked Katy if meeting Fifi’s daughter inspired her to name her own child – Daisy Dove Bloom – because they remembered how much she loved the name at the time.

The Roar singer was surprised, but admitted that this may have been the “subconscious” reason she decided to name her own four-year-old daughter Daisy about a year later.

“Is that where it comes from subconsciously?” Katy said during a conversation with Brendan and Nick on their radio show on Thursday.

‘I also love Disney and Daisy Duck, so it could be a combination of Daisy from Australia and Daisy Duck.’

Katy, who shares the Daisy name with actor Orlando Bloom, also admitted that she had already picked out another unique name for her daughter, but ultimately decided against it.

“I had another name for her, Jupiter, but that’s not the right name for her. She’s definitely not Jupiter,” she said.

“She’s a real Daisy, and it’s beautiful to have the last name Bloom.”

The Dark Horse singer will take to the stage in front of 100,000 AFL fans on Saturday when the Sydney Swans take on the Brisbane Lions.

She is reportedly being paid a whopping $5 million for her short pre-competition performance, in which she sings just five songs.

It was alleged that Katy and the AFL had a falling out over her setlist, with her team reportedly resisting a request from her not to play any new songs.

Appears on SEN Breakfast On Monday, veteran AFL journalist Tom Morris claimed they had reached a compromise with Katy agreeing to just one new song.

“She plays about five songs and the AFL really wanted her to play five classic songs. She wanted to play two new ones,” he said.

‘They ended up meeting halfway and she plays one new song and four classics.’

Co-host and AFL legend Kane Cornes, who revealed he is a fan of Katy Perry, added that the AFL should have a say in the planning of the hit stadium show.

“The AFL says, ‘We only want your hits. We only want your bangers. We only want your best stuff,'” he said.

“We want Roar, we want Teenage Dream, we want Firework. They want all the songs that we know and love. And she pushed back and said, ‘No, no, I want to play two of my new songs.’

‘You know, when you go to a concert and they’re maybe old and you just want their good stuff. You just want their greatest hits.

“That’s what the AFL asked Katy Perry. And she’s gone: ‘Obviously, I want to promote some of my new music.'”

Katy remained tight-lipped about Tina’s involvement during an interview with The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick. She brazenly said: ‘You’ll just have to wait and see.’

But then she said teasingly, “All I know is that she’s a Scorpio… and that she’s amazing.”
