- Katrina Gorry has said goodbye to Vittsjo
- She spent two years at the Swedish club
- Starting a new chapter with her fiancé and daughter
Matildas star Katrina Gorry has said goodbye to her home club Vittsjo GIK after the end of the Swedish football season.
Vitsjo finished fifth in the Damallsvensakan after completing a 2-0 win over KIF Orebro DFF last weekend, with Gorry scoring from the penalty spot.
The dynamic midfielder has been at the club for two years, together with fiancée and teammate Clara Markstedt.
However, Markstedt recently announced her retirement and the conclusion of the season has opened the door for the couple and their daughter Harper to begin a new chapter.
Gorry thanked the club via Instagram after a wonderful period of two years.

Gorry spent two years at the Swedish club but is looking for pastures new
“To my @vittsjogikofcl family, THANK YOU ❤️,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Thank you for giving me this opportunity, for welcoming us with open arms and caring for your little girl.
‘Thank you to our incredible supporters, to my team, to our coaching staff and especially to our incredible Nannies.
‘This has become our home for the past two years, but it’s time to say goodbye and start a new adventure. I came here with a six-month-old child and I’m leaving with a bilingual two-year-old, a beautiful fiancé and people who will always have a place in our hearts.’
It is unclear where Gorry will go next, although she has been linked with top clubs in Europe and the United States following her incredible performances at this year’s Women’s World Cup.
The international transfer window is closed until early 2024, so Gorry could return to Australia and play in the A-League.
Gorry plans to marry Markstedt on Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays in 2025.
“We’re going to try to keep it as traditional and beautiful as possible,” Gorry told Woman’s Day earlier this year.
“A lot of the Matildas have been my family for a long time, so they were so excited for me.
The dynamic midfield shone at the Women’s World Cup and will have plenty of candidates
“I’d like to have them there.”
Gorry gave birth to Harper via IVF solo in 2021 and met Markstedt when she moved to Sweden shortly afterwards.
“Having Clara changed everything for Harper and me,” she said.
“She’s great with her, and Harper loves her more than anything.”
