Nicolson defeats Wildheart

The towel comes out of Wildheart’s corner in the ninth round and that’s it.

A truly impressive performance from Skye Nicolson, her first distance win of her career.

She now hopes to really push on after accepting that she will not be at the Olympics next year.

Wildheart to become a firefighter?!

A story from Charlotte about Lucy Wildheart, who wants to become a firefighter!

She’s struggling a bit here in this fight – Nicolson is well on top after seven – but the drive is admirable.

Wildheart’s background received a lot of attention leading up to the fight.

Nicolson on top after four laps

“She won’t like your work rate,” Wildhart’s corner said between rounds two and three.

She can put the work in, but Nicolson has her opponent scouted. It’s more than comfortable to sit back and take out her opponent.

Comfortable for the champion after four rounds.

Nicolson vs. Wildheart on the road

First up for the official undercard we have Skye Nicolson vs. Lucy Wildheart for the WBC interim Featherweight Championship.

The undefeated Nicolson is the big favorite here.

Two rounds out of 10 and it’s slow, but Wildheart was decent. She has to be careful not to fall over the front foot, but she is the one who went forward, Nicolson careful.

Ed Sheeran is here!

You don’t often see Ed at a boxing event!

There is of course the Bill Sheeran link. He’s been in deep conversation with Eddie Hearn.

Taylor aims for ‘statement victory’

The ‘Before the Bell’ fights are now over and the main show aims for the ‘real’ undercard, if you will.

Eddie Hearn speaks on DAZN and says this was the only fight Taylor was interested in, and she would have turned down the money 10 times over to meet Serrano.

She’s just ready to fight. Read more from Charlotte below.

‘I will fight anyone’

Strong words from Barrett after the match.

‘It was okay. It was good to get out and he’s a good fighter.

“I will put people in positions where they have to fight me. I have the best promoter in the world. Trust the process. As long as I get the preparation, it’s perfect. But it has to make sense.’

“I will fight anyone, just give me the right preparation and root at the end.”

Barrett defeats Ion by unanimous decision

Barrett started coming forward more often as the fight went on, landing a few more body shots. Ion gave it a good try, but Barrett did his job.

Ion was doing well until he ran into a right hand in the seventh. Barrett felt blood, but it was too close to the end of the round to finish the job.

The Romanian was bleeding at the end of the round. It went all the way, but Barrett got it done.

Barrett vs. Ion in full swing

We are halfway through the fourth bout of the fight, which is Zelfa Barrett vs. Costin Ion.

Barrett sits well on top as expected, uses the ring well and his jab was great. But Ion also took a few shots, and many may have realized that the job would be done by now.

Last time

When the two women faced off for the first time in tonight’s main event, it was billed as the homecoming for Taylor, who had enjoyed success all over the world and was undefeated.

But things didn’t go according to plan. Taylor struggled throughout and Cameron won the match via majority decision.

Taylor was originally scheduled to face Ama nda Serrano, who withdrew due to injury, with Cameron interfering and the fight being for the Undisputed Super Lightweight Championship.

Visioli and Cooney successful

It was light work for Giorgio Visioli against Lee Anthony Sibley in the first fight of the evening, with the former knocking out his opponent in the first round.

Second, John Cooney defeated Liam Gaynor in the Celtic Super Featherweight title fight.

Brennan defeated Morrissey via technical knockout

Former Olympian (and home favorite) Emmet Brennan just defeated Jamie Morrissey via TKO, stopping him in the final round.

Actually a very, very good fight. And the audience is happy.
