Katie Price’s former dressage trainer who was forced to deny having an affair with her gets Paris Olympics call-up after Charlotte Dujardin was suspended for whipping horse
Katie Price’s dressage trainer has been called up for the Paris Olympics after Charlotte Dujardin was suspended for hitting a horse.
The queen of the British equestrian team was sensationally suspended from the sport just days before she was due to compete, after footage emerged of her striking the animal 25 times on its legs.
Dujardin, a six-time Olympic medallist, had hoped to become Britain’s most decorated female Olympian – having tied with cyclist Laura Kenny – but was forced to withdraw from the Games on Tuesday.
Team GB reservist Becky Moody has taken Dujardin’s place, but her departure has also made room for Andrew Gould, who will travel to Paris in case another rider leaves the three-man squad.
Gould was at the centre of Katie’s divorce from singer Peter Andre in 2009, after photos emerged of the glamour model dating him.

Although they both denied any infidelity, Katie later revealed that Peter ended their marriage because he felt differently.
Gould said the following after being called up to Team GB: ‘It wasn’t exactly a message I was expecting to be writing, but as you may have heard, I have been called up to become the fourth member of the GB team.
“It is an absolute privilege and honor to be given the trust and responsibility to be part of the team.
‘I will do everything I can to support the team and at the same time gain as much experience as possible.
‘Indigro is feeling better than ever and is ready to take on whatever comes his way. Now it’s time to come together and support Team GB.’
In 2012, Katie revealed the extent to which her friendship with Gould, who was married to Polly, a PR executive, angered her then-husband.
Katie described the fateful night out in Bristol that led to Peter breaking up with her: ‘I said Pete would go crazy if he found out I was out with Andrew, because he had a problem with him, but everyone said, ‘Don’t be silly, you’re a grown woman, he’s here with Polly’.
“Pete didn’t ask who was there, so I didn’t mention Andrew.”
She then described the moment she was in the newspaper with a male friend, who happened to be gay, and her fear of how Peter would react if he found out Andrew was there too.

‘I was on the front page with a ‘mystery man’, but the guy was gay and someone Pete had met before. But I immediately felt sick.
“I wanted to get out of the house and avoid a confrontation with Pete because I knew he would be angry. On the way to Andrew’s stables I was hyperventilating,” she said.
Shortly after, Peter called her and told her it was over.
Andrew and Polly released a statement at the time about the strength of their relationship and Polly spoke about how Katie had ruined her life.
Polly said, “I’m not happy about it at all. I’m not happy that I got involved in her life. I’m not happy that it’s gotten to this point. Jordan has become a client of my husband’s and also a client of mine, because we both run horse businesses.
‘He teaches her and I take care of her horses, that’s it.’
“But I’m sure more stories will come out and I’m angry that the attention has been focused on us in this way.”
In her 2010 book You Only Live Once, Katie recounted how jealous Peter was of her friendship with Gould.
‘Pete met Andrew and everything changed. He had met Polly and Andrew briefly when they both came to our house before we went to a horse show, and even during that brief meeting, which was filmed for our reality series, I had a bad feeling about Pete, but I thought maybe I was imagining it.
“I admit that we both had jealousy in our marriage… Jealousy is a poison, a cancer, and once it gets out of control, it can destroy everything.”
Katie was married to Peter Andre, 50, from 2005 to 2009 and they share Junior, 18, and daughter Princess, 16
Dujardin with her fiancé Dean Wyatt-Golding after winning the gold medal at Rio 2016
Today, Dujardin’s fiancé Dean Wyatt-Golding broke his silence on the scandal, saying: it had all ‘come out of nowhere’.
Mr Wyatt-Golding told the couple’s home: ‘I can’t say anything other than what Charlotte has stated.
All we can do is wait and see what happens.’
When asked about how the video might have been shared, Golding replied: ‘No, we have no idea.
‘For the time being, Charlotte is of course cooperating with the equestrian authorities.’
