Katie Holmes was spotted solo in New York City on Thursday – three weeks after celebrating daughter Suri’s 18th birthday.

The Dawson’s Creek star, 45, strolled down the sidewalk in beige suede moccasins while chatting on her iPhone.

She wore a stylish black slip dress over a dark green tank top with brown trim.

Katie wore her silky brunette hair down and shielded her eyes with chic gold-rimmed sunglasses.

The actress wore several layered necklaces for her afternoon grocery run.

Katie made the move from Los Angeles to New York City in 2012 after being separated from her husband, Tom Cruise, 61, of six years.

The couple started dating in April 2005 and Holmes, who had grown up Catholic, began studying Tom’s religion Scientology.

Their first and longtime child, daughter Suri Cruise, was born on April 18, 2006.

Seven months later, Tom and Katie were married in November 2006 in a Scientology ceremony at the Odescalchi Castle in Bracciano, Italy.

Katie shocked fans when she filed for divorce from Tom in June 2012. Ultimately, she was awarded primary custody of Suri.

It is reported that Tom has rarely seen his daughter for the past eleven years, despite being granted visitation rights.

Last month, Suri rang in her 18th birthday in New York City, while her A-list father was shooting the next Mission Impossible movie in Europe.

Although he missed his daughter’s milestone, Tom did find time to attend Victoria Beckham’s star-studded 50th birthday party in London two days later.

Now that Suri is an adult, the Interview With The Vampire star no longer has to pay child support.

It has been reported that Tom earned over $33,000 per month, which amounts to approximately $400,000 per year, plus Suri’s expenses, such as medical expenses and education.

Although estranged from Tom, Suri has a close relationship with mother Katie.

Katie has provided some insight into their close bond over the years.

In an essay for Vogue Australiathe TV star said spending the COVID-19 lockdown with her only child was the “most precious gift.”

“To live for a moment in time without the pressure of results and instead appreciate the natural rhythms of mother and daughter was the most precious gift,” she wrote.
