After a brief jaunt to the Cannes Film Festival, Katie Holmes was spotted touring New York City this Tuesday.

While the series of glittering events is still underway in the South of France, Katie, 44, has finalized her engagements and returned to America.

For her latest outing, she pulled on a summer denim shirt with an intricate grid print, which she tucked in to accentuate her slender waist.

Katie, who has a 17-year-old daughter named Suri by her ex-husband Tom Cruise, went matchy-matchy in jeans.

She swept her silky dark locks back into a ponytail, fended off the rays with bronze-toned sunglasses and slipped on a casual pair of sneakers.

While making the rounds at the Cannes Film Festival, she took the stage for a talk at an event called Women in motion thrown by French luxury goods company Kering.

Under the chairmanship of Salma Hayek’s husband François-Henri Pinault, Kering has a glamorous list of subsidiaries, including Balenciaga, Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent.

During her interview with Women In Motion, Katie shared how her experience as an actress influenced her work as a director.

To date, she has directed three feature films – All We Had, Alone Together and the new release Rare Objects with her alongside Alan Cumming.

She theorized on stage at Cannes that ‘working with actors, being an actor, I also know what they feel. I think I know what they’re feeling and I hope they feel more comfortable knowing I’m them.”

As for her acting career, the Batman Begins actor shared that she would “actually like to do a comedy.” I think people are laughing now. I also like musicals. I can’t sing very well though,’ she confessed with a giggle.

Katie’s trip to Cannes also included the Women’s Stories Gala held by Vanity Fair in conjunction with Saudi Arabia’s controversial Red Sea International Film Festival.

The Red Sea International Film Festival, which focuses on Third World talent, was held in Jeddah for the second time last October.

In 2021, the inaugural festival opened with Cyrano starring Peter Dinklage and the Best Picture award went to a Georgian film called Brighton 4th.

From the outset, the film festival was slammed abroad by those who viewed it as a propaganda campaign to cleanse the public image of the Saudi state.

At the opening ceremony of the last edition, JFK director Oliver Stone gave a striking speech in defense of the local regime.

“You see the changes that are coming here, the reforms,” he said, according to a report in deadline. “I think people who judge too harshly should come visit this place and see for themselves.”
