British number 1 Katie Boulter’s December dream became even brighter when she started her 2025 season by leading Great Britain to victory over Argentina in the United Cup.

The 28-year-old announced on social media last week that she was engaged to her long-term boyfriend and world number 9 Alex de Minaur.

The tennis power couple, who have been dating since 2022, could even face each other on court with Great Britain this week due to the match against De Minaur’s Australia on New Year’s Day.

Last week, Boulter and De Minaur delighted their fans with an Instagram photo in which the Briton wrapped her left arm around her 25-year-old boyfriend’s neck and revealed she was wearing a beautiful engagement ring on her wedding finger.

They captioned the post: ‘We’ve been keeping a little secret…’

After initially meeting on the professional tennis circuit, they ran into each other while out for coffee at 6am.

It was here that their relationship blossomed and Boulter admitted that it was then that she knew he was the one.

“We met at six in the morning and ended up having coffee. From that moment on I knew I was in it for the long haul,” Boulter had previously told The Age.

De Minaur ended his year with a huge win at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, bouncing back from his disappointing ATP Finals in Turin where he failed to win a match.

And Boulter certainly looked like she was still on a high on Monday when she saw off Nadia Podorosk in straight sets in Sydney and then teamed up with Charles Broom in the doubles to secure the tie after Billy Harris lost his singles rubber by Tomas Etcheverry.

She told the United Cup website: “Very happy with today. Last year I played so well in singles and didn’t get any mixed doubles rubbers, so I wanted this one so bad.

“I feel like we both played so well together considering it’s our first time. But I’m just very happy with the win.’
