Kathy Griffin undergoes successful vocal cord surgery after a long journey to regain her voice after battling lung cancer

Kathy Griffin had successful vocal cord surgery when she took to Instagram on Wednesday to share her much-anticipated procedure.

The 62-year-old Emmy winner, who spoke to her fans about her cancer journey, said her throat is “a little scratchy today, but I’m in good shape,” according to proceedings.

The surgery comes as she wants to get ready for her upcoming show in Vegas this month, which she told fans on Instagram.

She said, “This is just part of my recovery from lung cancer. I am cancer free.’

The star lost her distinctive voice after her oncologist removed half of her left lung in August 2021 and revealed in December last year that she would “do anything to get my voice back.”

Kathy, who will be playing her live show at the Mirage Theater on June 17, posted the process of her vocal cord procedure on Instagram.

The video footage showed her “kick a** female voice surgeon” inserting a camera down her throat, which she later superimposed on an image of her vocal cords.

Kathy has also started her sobriety journey to stop her use of prescription pills as she struggled with addiction in the past.

The comedienne admitted her cancer surgery was “more than she bargained for” after revealing that the treatment was “more challenging than she imagined.”

She said, “Tonight will be my first night without narcotic pain meds. Hello Tylenol, my new best friend!’

“With more than a year clean and drug free, I now know I can do this and everything I want without those devilish pills.”

‘You know what? I fear drugs and addiction more than cancer. So I think it will be fine.’

Kathy also revealed her journey since being diagnosed with an “extreme case of complex PTSD.”

The Illinois-born entertainer added, “Sometimes they last a few hours or more, usually they last at least an entire day, if not several days in a row.”

“I feel silly telling you this because I always thought PTSD was just for veterans and stuff.”
