Katherine Ryan has revealed the heartbreaking reason why she would let her 14-year-old daughter Violet go to Love Island.

The comedian, 40, said she would ‘not be against’ the ITV dating show – after a string of celebrity sons and daughters including Gemma Owen entered the villa.

She said sadly that it would probably be “one of the safest places for a teenager in a few years” because of the protection the show provides.

Katherine also shared that she thinks Violet would be most like Dani Dyer from the show, who emerged as the Girl Next Door type.

‘But I don’t think Violet will make this kind of mistake. She probably can’t help absorbing my feminist mantras, so I think she values ​​herself more than I did at that age.

‘If she wanted to be on TV I wouldn’t be against Love Island. She’s said to be a Dani Dyer type. It will probably be one of the safest places for a teenager in a few years because of the security at that show.

“I imagine she’s just there to hold the other girls up, say the right things and be a sweetheart.”

Katherine shares two children Fenna Grace, 13 months, and Fred, two, with husband Bobby Kootstra, 40, as well as Violet with ex-boyfriend Alex Edelman.

‘I never went to NCT groups. They tried to lure you in, (I) said no. I was 24, pregnant in a foreign country with no family and I thought, “I get it!” I got pregnant with Violet on purpose. I joke that she was a surprise, but she wasn’t.”
