Katherine Ryan has revealed the heartbreaking reason why she would let her 14-year-old daughter Violet go to Love Island.
The comedian, 40, said she would ‘not be against’ the ITV dating show – after a string of celebrity sons and daughters including Gemma Owen entered the villa.
She said sadly that it would probably be “one of the safest places for a teenager in a few years” because of the protection the show provides.
Katherine also shared that she thinks Violet would be most like Dani Dyer from the show, who emerged as the Girl Next Door type.
She said The sun: ‘In my teenage years I did all kinds of dangerous things: sleeping in the fields and getting into random cars. When I was 17, I dated a 31-year-old.

‘But I don’t think Violet will make this kind of mistake. She probably can’t help absorbing my feminist mantras, so I think she values herself more than I did at that age.
‘If she wanted to be on TV I wouldn’t be against Love Island. She’s said to be a Dani Dyer type. It will probably be one of the safest places for a teenager in a few years because of the security at that show.
“I imagine she’s just there to hold the other girls up, say the right things and be a sweetheart.”
Katherine shares two children Fenna Grace, 13 months, and Fred, two, with husband Bobby Kootstra, 40, as well as Violet with ex-boyfriend Alex Edelman.
It comes after Katherine last week revealed exactly how many times a month she has sex with her husband.
The star explained how she likes to ‘keep a log’ of any amorous activity with husband of four years Bobby, in case she gets pregnant.
In an interview with The times, where she was asked if she was particularly active in the bedroom, Katherine replied, “No, but I should be.” We have sex exactly twice a month. I’m logging it in case I get pregnant.’
The comedian regularly shares her life as a mother with her 983,000 Instagram followers and emphasized her parenting style: ‘I’m very confident. I do things my way and never follow what the grandma says or what the book says.

‘I never went to NCT groups. They tried to lure you in, (I) said no. I was 24, pregnant in a foreign country with no family and I thought, “I get it!” I got pregnant with Violet on purpose. I joke that she was a surprise, but she wasn’t.”
She previously admitted that she and Bobby “go back and forth about having more babies,” saying, “I will never allow him to get the cut!” I just really love children.’
Katherine and Bobby have been together since 2018, but have known each other since they were children and grew up together in Canada.
Childhood sweethearts, the two initially broke up before rekindling things on this side of the Atlantic.
The couple entered into a civil partnership in 2019 and headed to Denmark for the ceremony, with Katherine previously telling The Jonathan Ross Show: ‘It was a beautiful day. It is perfect to have a civil partner.
“We didn’t have a wedding, I didn’t have to put on a white dress and pretend to be a virgin, that ship has sailed!”

Katherine was born in Ontario, Canada and left home at the age of 18 to study urban planning.
However, she found her first success as a waitress at Hooters and moved to the UK to open the chain’s first UK branch in Nottingham.
In 2008, Katherine won the Funny Women award, but she had to wait until 2012 for her first major British TV appearances.
Since then she has starred in a range of comedy programs such as Have I Got News For You, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Mock The Week, Would I Lie To You? and its own competition.
