Katharine McPhee and husband David Foster reveal they went through “a terrible family tragedy” as she leaves the last dates of their Asian tour to rush back to the US.
Katharine McPhee has suddenly pulled out of the last dates of her Asia tour with husband David Foster after experiencing “a terrible tragedy in their family” that caused the mother of a child to rush back to the US.
The singer, 39, who has been busy performing in Asia with her 16-time Grammy Award-winning partner, 73, shared the devastating news in a statement posted to her Instagram on Friday.
She announced that she will miss “the last two shows” of the tour, which were to take place in Indonesia’s capital Jakarta, because she needs to “go home immediately to family.”
The actress wrote, “Dear Jakarta fans, it is with a heavy heart that I announce that I will have to miss our last two shows of our Asia run. David and I have had a terrible tragedy in our family and at least one of us has to go home to our family.
“Please know how sorry I am and how much I want to come back one day and perform for all of you. I love Katharine.’

‘Sending love’: It’s unclear what happened, but many celebrity friends sent their best wishes to the couple during this difficult time
David is also a father to five adult daughters: Sara, 42, Erin, 40, and Jordan, 36, who he shared with second wife Rebecca Dyer.
He also has daughters Allison, 53, and Amy, 49, from previous relationships.
It came after the couple’s two-year-old son, Rennie, showed off his drumming skills on Instagram earlier this year.
David shared the short video, which showed the toddler holding the beat while sitting behind his drum kit
‘PROGRESS!!’ he gushed in the caption, before telling his followers that Rennie is only “2 years and 3 months.”
The composer, arranger, producer and music executive has been documenting his son’s progress on the drums since last December.
In the clip, Rennie starts off with a cool lick on one of his tom drums, before moving to the snare-and-ride symbol for a throw on each.
At that point, the cute boy showed that he can keep a solid beat with the snare, kick and high-hat combination.
David first uploaded a video of Rennie drumming on an electronic percussion device to Instagram on December 23, 2022, with the caption, “Little Drummer Boy.”

And he followed that up in January with a video of Rennie playing a real drum kit for the first time, sharing how he had “made progress after 22 months!!”
Three weeks later, Rennie was seen standing upright while focusing on the top hat symbol with an almost disco pattern.
Finding his groove. 23 months,” Foster wrote in the post.
Rennie’s passion for percussion was so great that he even grabbed some chopsticks and started beating away.
This latest post comes just over three months later, and his improvement on the drums is more than apparent.
