Katharine McPhee and David Foster’s son’s nanny has passed away

Katharine McPhee has suddenly pulled out of the final dates of her Asia tour with husband David Foster after discovering their son’s nanny had died, it is alleged.

The name and cause of death of the deceased have not yet been made public.

However TMZ reports that the married couple considered the nanny “part of the family” and were understandably devastated by the news.

McPhee initially told fans she was suffering from “a terrible tragedy in their family” that forced the mother of a child to return to the US urgently.

The singer, 39, who has been busy performing in Asia with her 16-time Grammy Award-winning partner, 73, cryptically shared the devastating news in a statement posted to her Instagram on Friday.

‘Terrible tragedy’: The singer, 39, who has been busy touring Asia with her 16-time Grammy Award-winning musician partner, 73, took to Instagram on Friday to share a statement

She announced that she would miss “the last two shows” of the tour, which were to take place in Indonesia’s capital Jakarta, because she “needs to go home to family immediately.”

The actress wrote, “Dear Jakarta fans, it is with a heavy heart that I announce that I will have to miss our last two shows of our Asia run. David and I have had a terrible tragedy in our family and at least one of us has to go home to our family.

“Please know how sorry I am and how much I want to come back one day and perform for all of you. I love Katharine.’

The actress and singer – who welcomed her first child, son Rennie, in 2021 – did not share any further details about the incident.

However, sources close to McPhee informed TMZ that the tragedy in question was the death of her son’s nanny.

DailyMail.com has reached out to McPhee representatives, who were not available for comment until now.

Shortly after McPhee shared the news, her comment section was flooded with sympathetic messages of support from the couple’s celebrity friends.

Nicole Scherzinger said: ‘Sending my love and prayers to your family❤️’

‘Sending love’: It’s unclear what happened, but many celebrity friends sent their best wishes to the couple during this difficult time

Foster’s ex-wife Linda Thompson wrote, “Sending love to you and David, and hope all is well.”

For now it looks like Foster will play the last two shows of the tour in Jakarta, Indonesia on Friday and Saturday.

He is joined by Michael Bolton, Loren Allred, Peabo Bryson and Raisa.

McPhee, Foster’s fifth wife, celebrated her fourth wedding anniversary with him a few weeks ago on June 28.

Foster is also a father to five adult daughters: Sara, 42, Erin, 40, and Jordan, 36, who he shared with second wife Rebecca Dyer.

He also has daughters Allison, 53, and Amy, 49, from previous relationships.

It came after the couple’s two-year-old son, Rennie, showed off his drumming skills on Instagram earlier this year.

Foster shared the short video, which showed the toddler keeping time while sitting behind his drum kit.

‘PROGRESS!!’ he gushed in the caption, before telling his followers that Rennie is only “2 years and 3 months.”

The composer, arranger, producer and music executive has been documenting his son’s progress on the drums since last December.

In the clip, Rennie starts off with a cool lick on one of his tom drums, before moving to the snare-and-ride symbol for a throw on each.

At that point, the cute boy showed that he can keep a solid beat with the snare, kick and high-hat combination.

Foster first uploaded a video of Rennie drumming on an electronic percussion device to Instagram on Dec. 23, 2022, with the caption, “Little Drummer Boy.”

And he followed that up in January with a video of Rennie playing a real drum kit for the first time, sharing how he had “made progress after 22 months!!”

Three weeks later, Rennie was seen standing upright while focusing on the top hat symbol with an almost disco pattern.

Finding his groove. 23 months,” Foster wrote in the post.

Rennie’s passion for percussion was so great that he even grabbed some chopsticks and started beating away.

This latest post comes just over three months later, and his improvement on the drums is more than apparent.
