Katharine McPhee, 39, and husband David Foster, 74, celebrate the holidays as they perform at The Grove’s tree lighting ceremony – after difficult year

Katharine McPhee and her husband David Foster celebrated the holidays Monday night at the annual tree lighting ceremony at The Grove.

The couple, who have had a difficult year after the loss of their son’s nanny, sang Christmas carols for fans at the iconic Los Angeles mall.

Katharine, 39, looked stunning in a festive black mini dress with a round neckline and feather fringe along the hem. Her legs popped with the help of sheer heels.

Her glossy hair was pulled back with the help of a black bow, with a few loose curls running along her dolled-up complexion.

David, 74, looked dapper in a mocha blazer, button-up cardigan, blue jeans and a crisp polo shirt. His feet were in shiny black sneakers.

The duo had the audience in the palms of their hands as they took to the stage, which was decorated with lighted trees and poinsettias.

David sat at the piano as his beloved belted out holiday tunes with the help of a live band. The couple recently released another album celebrating the seasons, Christmas Songs.

The celebrations come after a difficult year for the couple, who are mourning the loss of their son’s nanny.

In August, Yadira Calito, 55, a babysitter for the couple’s two-year-old son Rennie, was hit by a car and then dragged twenty feet to a Toyota dealership.

She was hit by an 84-year-old woman who had crashed her SUV into the customer reception area. Apparently she had pressed the gas instead of the brake.

In the wake of the tragedy, McPhee canceled the final two shows of her concert tour with her husband in Jakarta, Indonesia, when she heard the news.

The elderly driver had reportedly taken her car for a service when she pressed the gas instead of the brake, causing the vehicle to collide with Calito.

Calito was taken to hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead. The driver of the SUV was not arrested.

“Please know how sorry I am and how much I want to come back one day and perform for all of you. I love Katharine.’

The couple spoke about the tragedy in an interview with Entertainment tonightin which Foster acknowledged how difficult it had been for his wife.

“It’s been hard for her,” he told ET in September. ‘Yes, it has been tough. She’ll take care of it,” he said.

“Then you,” said his wife.
