Kate Ritchie says starring in true-crime series The Claremont Murders renewed her passion for acting

Home And Away star Kate Ritchie reveals why starring in True Crime series The Claremont Murders ‘rekindled’ her passion for acting

Kate Ritchie revealed on Monday that starring in Channel Seven’s true crime drama, The Claremont Murders, has “ignited” her passion for acting.

The Home And Away icon, 44, stars in the two-part miniseries as Carol Spiers, a real-life Western Australian woman whose daughter Sarah went missing in Claremont in 1996 and has never been found.

“Working on this project in Perth, being on set, surrounding myself with good people has undoubtedly revived something in me,” she shared The Western Australian.

“The chance to work on this and see it all come together has reminded me of a lot of things. The most important of a passion that started a long time ago,” she added.

Kate’s new performance marks her return to acting after a decade away from the profession.

Kate also told the publication that she tried to remain “respectful” to the real victims of the Claremont incident during her performance.

“It really is a story that belongs to the families involved and the wider community of Perth. I felt telling this story was in good hands, which is why I was,” said the mother of one.

Part one of the thrilling series aired Monday and it gave a never-before-seen account of the incredible investigative efforts of the WA police who finally apprehended the killer in 2016.

Kate stars alongside a variety of veteran actors, including fellow Home and Away star Ryan Johnson, 44, and Erik Thomson (Packed to the Rafters).

Last month, Kate reflected on her decision to seek professional help following her shock driving charge in August.

In December, Daily Mail Australia broke the news that Ritchie had entered an exclusive private mental health facility in Sydney to help her treat her alcohol addiction.

That said the former Home And Away star The Sunday Telegraph that after struggling with several personal challenges last year, she decided it was time to get help.

‘It was a long time coming. I sought professional help, the help I needed. Sometimes enough is enough,” she said.
